Shanthi,
Could you tell us how many yearlings and weanlings were put up for auction last year (2009)? How many for each?

Thanks,

Myles

I don't have exact numbers available because stables have quit since then, but there are 75 recorded sales currently in the database.

I usually aim for ~100 foals being sold, usually around 60 yearlings and 40 weanlings.

It all depends on what FF has.  :)  (And how much time I want to spend picking horses to consign ;))

You're welcome to make suggestions, but keep in mind that any foals with SW/MSW dams are gonna be in the select auction, most likely.  ;)

Oddly enough, I printed out the results of last year's auction.. There were 43 weanlings and 41 yearlings sold, for a total of 84 babies. Of those, 41 were colts and 43 were fillies. So yeah, it's about a 50/50 split it seems. ;)

Ooo, I can probably get myself a good yearling in this auction! If I decide to that is.  ;)

Oh, good. Before I reviewed this I forgot that about 80 foals were consigned last year. I thought we'd only get about 20 since there was only 10 foals so far.  ::)

Anyway, I'm really pumped about this auction. I have no idea why I'm so excited for a foal that I have to wait to race with. But, when he is raceable, yay! Maybe because it's my first auction that I'm excited. Anyway, I'll stop rambling.

Really excited!  ;D

I have a question about the auction.

It says $100,000 and 5 purchase limit.

The money we use, is that from our farm budget or do we get "$100,000" to play with?  That makes all the difference in bidding, especially a newbie like me of only a couple of weeks.

Thanks,
Brenda

no the $100,000 limit comes from your stable budget.  :D

You can spend up to $100,000, but if you don't actually have $100,000 in your budget, then your spending limit is however much you have.  :)

Hi Shanthi

When the auction Started, I bid 100,000 for Blockbuster. I refreshed the screen and it showed I had the high bid at 100k. Now it is showing that semiaahmoo is holding the bid with the same amount. If you go into bid history, it shows both bids at 100K.

When two or more bidders bid the maximum on a horse, $100,000, the horse is them left on the auction for 12 more hours.  Anytime another stable puts in a $100,000 bid, the clock starts over again at 12 hours.  When there have been no new bids for 12 hours, the winner is randomly picked.  This is so that all bidders have a chance to get the horse if they are willing to pay the price, not just the first person to put down the maximum.  Since the bidding can't go up from $100,000, it makes sense.  Everyone interested has an equal chance to get the horse.

just thought I would let you know that the unnamed Affirmed colt has an error in the code  it won't let anyone bid
