Foaling Barn / RC Bee's 2021 Foals
« on: January 03, 2017, 05:38:48 AM »
First time we didn't have any New Year's Day babies and then had to wait one day longer before someone finally let go of her bun. Silly mares ::)

Kicking off the 2021 foaling season is 24 Karat Magic, a beautiful black colt by Eighteen Karat-Super Tuesday, by Candidate. Decided to double up on What's It Worth since Super Tuesday's dam did quite well with Worth stallions. Tuesday's only running foal is a multiple stakes-placed winner.

... he is so obviously named for Bruno Mars' ridiculously catchy song.

Super Tuesday may or may not visit Space Chips for her next foal.

General/Questions / Blinkers or no blinkers?
« on: September 04, 2016, 05:51:31 PM »
Trying to make sense of this filly's race record and workouts to figure out what equipment works with her and I'm getting mixed messages.

For all but one race she ran without any extra equipment and finished OTB for all dirt races. At the same time she had different jockeys on her back for her workouts and they threw out all kinds of comments ("refuses to rate at all" - equipment or energy comment?) until I set her jockeys. At the same time I put blinkers on her and the jockey said she loves her equipment, yet she finished third in her last race (which is a stakes race so that might not be a good race to compare).

Do I keep blinkers on her or take them off for her next start? Do I try something else? Do I have to spend the rest of this racing season playing musical chairs with her equipment?

Foaling Barn / RC Bee's 2020 Foals
« on: January 02, 2016, 05:49:17 AM »
Forgot to make this thread until it's already January 2nd whoops. We have a New Year's Day baby, though, and today another pretty foal showed up.

Vox Populi is a beautiful black colt by Ace of Hearts-Super Tuesday, by Candidate. I felt the name, which is Latin for "voice of the people", really fit the names of his parents. His dam was a good juvenile runner who didn't do so well once she hit three. His sire was a late bloomer so here's hoping he takes a bit more after his sire than his dam.

Super Tuesday is coming home for a date with the home stud.

Last Week Tonight is a handsome bay colt by Sunday Paper-Quorra, by No Duplicate. Named for John Oliver's fantastic show. Quorra was a multiple winner; we're hoping Sunday Paper will give her foal some class.

Quorra will probably also come home to be bred back to Karat.

General/Questions / What luck is this.
« on: March 22, 2015, 06:56:41 AM »
The day after her son won a Grade 2 and became RC Bee's first homebred stakes winner, Sonatina died hours after foaling an overdue Mr. Prospective filly for Easter Valley Estate. She was a stakes winner for us and the first broodmare to reach silver rank with one foal racing.  She leaves behind three handsome sons and a daughter.

Never lost a broodmare before, especially one like her. I'm feeling a bit lost  :(

Horses For Sale / Broodmares for Sale
« on: February 16, 2015, 06:23:09 AM »
Slowly weeding out my band of broodmares, since I can't play with so many horses. Will slowly add mares as they drop their foals. All mares are for sale for $20,000; stables that are less than a year old can buy them for $10,000. Let me know who you'd like to buy and if you're a new stable.

Miss My Scribbles, Secretariat-Moolah Girl; produced three foals.

Napoleons Waterloo, Bold Ruler-Indy's Liquer, by A.P. Indy; produced three foals.

The mare that's due today is still holding onto her baby ::) but another mare went into labor and delivered our first foal of the year.

Daoimean is a gorgeous dark bay filly by Edinburgh-Diamond Prospector, by Mr. Prospector. Her parents are multiple stakes-winning dirt sprinters/milers. Her name means "diamond" in Gaelic (according to online dictionaries).

Diamond Prospector is currently waiting confirmation on a booking request.

0 colt / 1 filly / 0 stillborn/ 28 foals still due

General/Questions / Advice on my racing stable.
« on: March 31, 2014, 08:47:01 PM »
This is a weird request but the last few years have been very frustrating for me racing-wise and I feel I need a complete overhaul of my racehorses and how I manage them. You'd think I'd learn something in the years I spent playing this game but lolno, I haven't learned a thing. Maybe it's because I'm sentimental or have too much hope for that dud horse that keeps racking up more bills than ITM finishes.

I don't want to ask too much of anyone. I just want some advice on which horses I should let go of and what might be a good way of managing my stable. I have a few sentimental favorites that I'd rather retire than sell, otherwise all of my runners are fair game.

Thanks in advance.

Lineage Questions / Suggestions?
« on: January 01, 2014, 06:41:05 PM »
Of the mares that aren't going up for lease, I have two who (still) aren't booked because I can't decide on studs for them. I'd like some recommendations. Max stud fee I'm willing to pay is 25k (though I might go a little higher) and the stallions can't be in Aussieland or the UK because the shipping fee will kill me D:

Fleet Hope is by Count Fleet-Swan's Hope. She ran long on the turf and is multiple stakes-placed. Her first foal is a New Year's baby by Eighteen Karat, who had a similar racing aptitude.

Light Up Your LIfe is by Cigar-Hollywood Memories, by Forget It. I never raced her but her race record says she did okay going long on turf and over hurdles. Her first three foals are by High On Love, Eighteen Karat, and Oscillation. She has a rather nice pedigree so I might be willing to pay more for her breeding.

o____________o - My face when I decided to check Stable Overview and found four mares had their foals some time after midnight. Preeeeetty sure none of them were supposed to foal today, lol

The first is a hiiiiighly anticipated foal by one of my favorite mares. Starfleet Captain - Eighteen Karat-Fleet Hope, by Count Fleet - is a gorgeous big bay at 10hh. She's very plain, no markings like her sire. Her parents are of similar racing aptitudes - run long on the lawn - and I hope that works out fantastically.

Fleet Hope is currently not booked to any studs because I can't find one for her that I like. *cries*
