General/Questions / Injuried Mare?
« on: July 17, 2017, 11:52:38 AM »
Hi Shanthi,

I came across one from left field today, a mare that I claimed (6 year old) during her first start injuried herself (bowed tendon) after her 2nd start.

I thought seeing she was 6 I'd retire her to the breeding barn but worked out as she hadn't had 10 starts she's ineligible  :-\ Obviously by the rules she can't be bred with but I don't think the rules took into consideration 6 year old first starters!

Thoughts?

Comments and Suggestions / Training Page Suggestion
« on: April 21, 2011, 05:10:24 AM »
I normally train my horses via the 'training workouts' page where I select which horses are to train and what activity they are to do etc.

I don't like stable workouts as I like to control who works and who doesn't etc.

Trouble I've found is when you have a large number of horses it becomes very time consuming to go through  :-[ and individually select each activity / distance / ground / effort etc.

My question - is it possible to have the page remember the previous work out for each horse (track / distance / effort etc) so you only have to scan through, minor adjust if required and have check box to the side to tick which then sets that horse to train as part of the work outs? Obviously those left unchecked wouldn't work when the training button at the bottom is hit to run the work outs?

Does that make any sense?  :-\

Is it possible?

Is it too hard?

How'd You Do? / 10/11

3 out today for Gintara Lodge

In The Zone continued his improved form winning the 7f NW3 Allowance for 3yo

Always In Demand ran a great race winning the 12f Gr. 2 Chairman's Handicap. He'll always have a soft spot as he was my first horse. Good to see him add to his stakes tally

The up coming star of the stable Can't Touch This ran a good race to just be pipped, running 2nd in the 6f Gr. 2 Karrakatta Plate for 2yo. I'm undecided whether I send him over for the Breeders race  ;)

Should add I won my first Grp 1 race last week when Nation Anthem won the Gr. 1 5.5f Galaxy  8)

Comments and Suggestions / Auction thoughts
« on: July 19, 2008, 12:47:55 AM »
Now the recent auction has finished I thought I'd mention what to me seems like a loop hole in the bidding process.

As it stands I think the auction set up is about 99% right as we all live in different parts of the world, times zones etc so the 18 hour count down from last bid is fair to all imho. The loop hole I feel is unfair to the current bid holder is everytime someone bids the clock restarts.

Example, the current bid on neddy x is $30,000 which I'm the highest bidder but my maximum bid on neddy x is $60,000. All it takes at the moment is someone to bid $500 above the $30,000 and the clock restarts  ??? for another 18 hours.

Wouldn't it be fairer for all (and not to mention auctions quicker) if the clock only restarted if a new bidder went past my maximum bid so they became the new bid holder? Then I would have 18 hours to respond if I wanted to raise my bid on neddy x

It was very noticable during the last auction to log on a see a number of horses with timers all within 30 seconds or so of each other, someone had simply gone along and bumped all the timers to restart them again. This could have been strategic to delay other sales so they could manage or budget their own sales or it simply was someone being annoying  :o

Interested in others thoughts?

Questions / Training times
« on: December 17, 2007, 04:49:30 AM »
Does anyone actually take notice of the times during training? I only ask as I see some unrealistic times, I know this bloke is slow but I didn't know he is that slow  :o

Exchange of Faith Walk 6 furlongs 39:05.937 Gallop 6 furlongs 7:25.964 Breeze 2 furlongs 1:41.530

Was he stopping to pick the grass during his breeze  ;D
