I'd love to throw Uncle Mo back into the mix.

Also, Union Rags.  He does have Mr. Prospector 3 generations back, so he might not be an option.  He won the Champagne at 2, then the Belmont at 3.

If Unbridled wasn't listed in roughly 200 pedigrees, I'd be begging for Shackleford. Siiiigh.

I'm fourth-ing this request.  I have a string of SC ponies with nowhere to go.  More SC stakes would be great, too, if steeplechase day became a thing.

Likely to retire in 2022
NCh. Tir Na Nog 5yo dk. bay
NCh. Celtic Star x Ch. Runaway Princess

He's qualified now, thank goodness.  I didn't breed him, but I bought him as a weanling or yearling.  Bought his sire, too, who will be standing with us as well.  He offers a nice outcross, at least.  He's had one minor injury - limping - in July of this year.  I may try to race him a couple more times to see how he does, but he already offers longevity to his offspring, as he's won stakes at ages 2, 3, 4, and 5.  Turf specialist.

Need 2 SW's
GCh. Seafaring 4yo dk. bay
NCh. I'm A Classic x Naval Romance (Romeo)

He also needs one more top 3 finish, I think.  Hopefully I can manage to get him there.  He's another that has won stakes at 2, 3, and 4 so far.  Dirt specialist.

Two unexpected BC wins for us today, but the less said, the better.  3 wins for 19 out.

Congrats Joe and Shelbie!

General/Questions / Re: 2yo's for 2022
« on: October 30, 2017, 06:14:20 PM »
I didn't participate last year (at least I don't think I did), but I'm interested in having a reminder of who I was really watching come next year this time.

That said, I'm both looking forward to and dreading Mr. Prospective's last crop hitting the track.  I have a number of babies who will debut next year.  Here's hoping that one of the boys from his current 2yo crop or upcoming yearlings will go on to be studified.

On a brighter note, Pay the Boatman's first crop will hit the track in 2018, so I'm very intrigued to see how they'll do.  Boatman was my first stud-qualified homebred, so it's a sentimental hope if nothing else!

As for specific kids, there are a few...

Sour Patch Kid is probably the most well bred and may turn out to be a complete flop because of it.  That's breeding for you!  He's from Foolhardy's last crop and out of platinum-ranked Cherry Flavoured (dam of FFCh. Black Cherry and several other Ch-ranked kids).

Vivien Leigh, (named for the actress who played Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind) another pretty breeding, likely won't debut until she's 3.  She's bred for jumps with FFCh. TakeMeToHollywood as her sire, and our own 2-time award winner ICh. Date With Destiny as her dam.  Destiny has produced a stakes winner already, with her 3yo looking poised to follow suit.

Righteous Man is the first colt from platinum-ranked In Thy Name, who wasn't stellar on the track but certainly has been as a broodmare.  She's produced 4 stakes winners (3 MSWs) from 5 foals to race.  Righteous is half to NCh. Holy Warrior and GCh. When You Were Mine.

Edelweiss is NCh. Von Lichtenstein x NCh. Highland Sage and 1/2 to a number of good horses, including award-winner NCh. Early Spring.  I have a stakes placed 2yo from the same sire, so perhaps lightning will strike twice!

It's pretty safe to say I'm looking forward to all of them racing, as more than a few tend to surprise me every year.

If I can get him to win one more stakes race (I think), Tir Na Nog will be up here...

How'd You Do? / Re: 5/06

Shillelagh (3yo, Irish Gold) in an Allowance
Fólkvangr (4yo, Mr. Prospective) in an Allowance
Wolfsbane (3yo, Magic Glory) in an Allowance
King's Guard (3yo, Brigade) in the Kentucky Derby (Gr. 1)

Also Rans:
Munin (2yo, Joyeux Oiseau) 6th in a NW3 Allowance
Qualifying Round (4yo, Mr. Prospective) 11th in the Tattersalls Gold Cup (Gr. 1)
Ch. Inevitable (4yo, Gilded Saint) 7th in the Pillar Steeplechase (Gr. 2)
Anchors Aweigh (3yo, Deep Impact) 6th in the Kentucky Derby (Gr. 1)

Ugh.  Kind of the story of the stable the last year plus.  We get a nice win percentage from the 2yo debuts, then...crash.  I see 0 wins from 8 out and want to throw in the towel.  :(
