General/Questions / Races disappearing??
« on: October 06, 2017, 08:52:03 PM »
So I had four horses entered to race on the 11th in the Stuyvesant Stakes and the 10/11 Turn Back The Alarm Stakes and then another random allowance. Now they aren't entered and those races are gone? Did the same thing happen to anyone else?

General/Questions / October Slump?
« on: October 05, 2016, 01:23:11 PM »
Hello All!

I was curious if anyone was having a similar start to October: My horses are suddenly bombing when they are well rested and have been performing all year? Is this a common occurrence? I know there is ebb and flow among success but to go from a good summer with 50%+ finishing in the money to now where placing in anything is rough seems odd and I wonder what I've done wrong with them.

General/Questions / Uptick in Injuries?
« on: June 02, 2016, 11:25:41 PM »
Hey Y'all,

As far as I can tell, I've had an uptick in injuries from a handful a year to 4 in the last month, granted I have grown my herd quite a lot so that could definitely be the problem. I was just curious if anyone else had seen a large number of injuries in the past month or so.

Darn! I thought that the program caught all name duplicates. I'll come up with something soon.

Thanks!

So here are the April babies!

April opened with an April Fools colt, Captain O'Hara, by Pay the Boatman and out of Scarlett O'Hara (Distinct Possibili). His dam is IFT Formal Occasion for 2021.

Flash of Lightning (Storm Cat) delivered a healthy colt by Pay the Boatman on April 9 named Lightning Boat, the cheesiest, punniest name but it still makes me laugh so he's keeping it. His dam is IFT Gunningdownromance for 2021.

The only filly of the month, named Jawahir, by Al Mundhir and out of Shining Diamond (Red Sunset), arrived on April 15. Her dam is now IFT Cryptic Ballad for 2021.

And today, the last day of the month, has brought us two lovely colts!

Casting Shadows (Alley Cat) delivered her first foal, The Black Prince Der Schwarze F

I'm wildly behind. It's been quite a month. Anyway.

I have 4 foals to present to you today:

Born March 8, Woman is Power is a filly by Mantle of Power and out of Pretty Woman (by Street Wise). Pretty Woman is IFT Naval Commander for 2021.

March 16 Blue Nile (Worth My While) delivered a healthy filly by Take Me Away that has been named Tis Issat. Blue Nile is IFT Aptitude for 2021.

Double Bubble (Created) delivered the only colt of the bunch on March 24, a grey colt by Silver Wizard named Aguamenti. Double Bubble is IFT Belanso for 2021.

And most recently, today in fact, Poise (Distinct Possibili) delivered a filly by City Upon a Hill that has been named Edinburgh Hill . Poise is IFT Last for More for 2021.

None of these mares have stallions selected at this time. Updated it Apr 30 :)

Thank you!

Captain's Promise finally decided today was the day! Nearly a month late, but a healthy foal is all we can ask for! Named Captain Nemo, this beautiful dark bay colt is by Black Light II and is his dam's first colt. My guess is that he's going to be one stubborn boy!

I haven't decided who Captain's Promise is visiting, but I will update this when I do.

Foals: 11
Fillies: 5
Colts: 5
Stillborn: 1
To Come: 21

Though we are still waiting on a mare that was due on 1/29, Zamberta was a doll and delivered on her due date! What a gem. She delivered a beautiful dark bay colt by Monarchos and has been named Sir Talbot. Zamberta will visit American Pharoah for 2021.

Foals: 10
Fillies: 5
Colts: 4
Stillborn: 1
To Come: 22

General/Questions / How To Know A Stakes Quality Horse?
« on: January 21, 2016, 02:58:25 PM »
As someone that has tried and failed for nearly a decade to produce at least a consistent, quality stakes horse, I was hoping for insight and advice from the top stables. I'd like to think that I have a few gems in the barn, but I just can't seem to properly develop them or keep them at that level if I do develop them momentarily. How do you judge that a horse is stakes quality? Is it in their training? Their 2f time? A whim? How do you keep them at that level? I'm open to all advice and can't wait to see what is said.

I figured as much! Too much work when you're writing the beta and having a real, actual job and real, actual life.
