General/Questions / Re: 2yo's for 2023
« on: December 01, 2018, 05:06:32 am »
Wow.... I completely missed Palermo in that post. Pass the Buck and Madame Pele are multi-stakes winners. Dayton Accords is stakes placed. Cthulu and Billy Big Rigger are a multi-winners.

The exciting thing for us next year is that Starling's first foals hit the track. :-)

Some ponies we're excited about:

A Thankless Task is a sentimental favorite. Dam, NCh. Thank Goodness, is by FFCh. High Chances and blue-hen mare Go For Glory. The foal is 3/4s to WCh. Toast of the Town thanks to FFCh. TakeMeToHollywood. I don't anticipate his 2yo season to be super successful, but later years should be nice.

Attilla the Hen is the 2nd foal to race out of NCh. Madame President by Von Lichtenstein. Half-sibling Burberry is stakes placed.

Damascus is out of Platinum mare Spirit of Arabia by NCh. Golden Text (G). He's a grandson on AP Indy and I would love to get him studified.

Here Comes Jenny is NCh. Ishka's first foal from Run Jenny Run's first crop. Her parents were super successful, and it's always exciting to see the first crop hit the track.

President for Life is from Starling's first crop.

Spin Spin Spin is half to NCh. Star Spun, Ch. Fable Spinner and Ch. Frau Holle. By I'm Your Angel out of Spinning Hill. Solid, proven lines.

Amati is available to enter...by Sakura Springs, his owner. ;-)

Whoops! More evidence that I'm going senile.... Or have too many ponies to keep track of.

Hey Shanthi, I'm trying to enter Amati into the Breeder's Series race for 4yo+ ponies. He's qualified (#7 on the list), but he's not an option to enter. Seduction who is an alternate, on the other hand, is. Would you mind looking into this?

All Stakes runners, mostly in BC races. 3 wins, including in the Classic. Congratulations to Cat of Cricket Hill on GCh. Palermo continuing his wonderful season by winning the Juvenile Turf and becoming Stud-Qualified at 2YO.
Also want to say CONGRATULATIONS to Palermo, who won the G1 BC Juvenile Turf and is now officially stud qualified at two!

Thanks, guys! We're really excited about this guy. I'm hoping his 3yo season is half as good as his 2yo one! But now that he's officially qualified, a lot of the pressure is off.

I think this was our best Breeder's Cup ever. In addition to Palermo's win, we had two 2yo fillies go 1-2 in the filly turf.

Wins:
GCh. Palermo (2yo, Foolhardy) in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (Gr. 1)
Ch. Frau Holle (2yo, Unabridged) in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Fillies (Gr. 1)

Places:
Ch. Madame Pele (2yo, Quarren) in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Fillies (Gr. 1)

Shows:
Ch. Fairport (3yo, High Chances) in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (Gr. 1)

Fifths:
West Nile (2yo, As You Wish) in a maiden

Also Rans:
Ch. McKinley (3yo, Foolhardy) 6th in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (Gr. 1)

General/Questions / Re: Continuing Stallion Spotlights?

Honestly, I would like to see them done on younger/newer stallions. These spotlights definitely encouraged me to send mares to boys I sometimes overlooked.

What a bummer. I'm sorry to hear that. He was beautifully bred with some nice outside bloodlines.

Best of luck with those foals!

General/Questions / Re: Racing Frequency
« on: September 23, 2018, 01:24:37 pm »
If they're recovered, they should be safe to race --  I believe that injuries are tied to those fitness/energy stats and track condition.

That being said, training seems to provide a positive effect on their performance in races (or at least my ponies perform better if they've had some training between races).

I hate to say that I think you might want to double-check that. I believe that to be Stud-Qualified, the horse needs at least 7 SW including 1 G1W & 10 SP including 2 G1P and Palermo only has 8 SP. No matter, it is still a remarkable record and I don't think it will be long before he gets the 2 SP he needs. Congratulations on today's performance.

You're right! Thanks for reminding me. In the past it's been a non-issue since the boys were usually much older and had incidental SPs under their belt. It's usually the Gr. 1 win that I'm fighting for at the very end of their careers.

So, bit of a premature celebration.... Whoops!
