Foaling Barn / Ivy Creek's 2019 Foal Crop
« on: January 11, 2015, 04:46:29 AM »
Our foaling season started with a bang.  We're only 10 days into the new year, and we've already got 18 foals on the ground!

On January 1st:

BOLD VICTORY - 8.3hh brown filly
SIRE: ICh. V is for Victory {S} (GCh. Jazz It Up {G} x Dark Victory {P})
DAM: Ch. Bold Jewel (Bold Ruler {G} x Queen's Jewel {S})

This is the third foal (and third filly) from this MSW mare who set a speed record at 10f turf at age 3.

CALLGIRL - 8.1hh dark bay filly
SIRE: ICh. Count Me In {S} (Count Fleet {S} x Ch. Highland Dreamer {G})
DAM: Pussycat Doll (Ch. Mr. Townsend {B} x Miss Kitty II {B})

This is the third foal from this MW mare who set a speed record for 10f and 11f turf at age 4.

LAKE COMO - 8.3hh dark grey colt
SIRE: NCh. Bellagio {S} (Lonesome Glory {S} x Foolish Question {P})
DAM: Ch. Oh So Proud (ICh. Highland Pride {S} x Oh So Sharp {G})

This is the first foal from this homebred MSW mare who set a speed record at 8.5f turf at age 4.

On January 2nd:

KING'S COURT - 9.0hh dark grey colt
SIRE: Animal Kingdom (created)
DAM: Must Be Royal {S} (GCh. Must Be Magic {S} x Ch. Jungle Queen {S})

1/2 to SW Foolish Queen, who just turned 3 (who is the first foal from this mare).

On January 3rd:

SEEK JUSTICE - 8.2hh bay filly
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Madame Justice (Lit de Justice {G} x Lady Be Good {S})

This is the third foal from this MW mare who set a speed record for 6.5f turf at age 2.

On January 4th:

ALL VIOLET - 9.2hh bay filly
SIRE: WCh. All Jazzed Up {S} (GCh. Jazz It Up {G} x GCh. Whimsical Whirl {P})
DAM: Ch. Violet Haze (created)

This is the second foal from this MW mare who set a speed record at 10f turf at age 4.

DUCK DUCK GOOSE - 9.1hh flea-bitten grey colt
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Lucky Ducky (created)

This is the fourth foal from this MW mare who set a speed record for 10.5f turf and 11f dirt at age 5 - she didn't start racing until age 4.

MARIA VON TRAPP - 9.1hh dark grey filly
SIRE: NCh. Von Lichtenstein (NCh. I'm A Classic {S} x Lady In Residence {G})
DAM: Ch. Keria Toon {G} (created)

1/2 to MSW GCh. Singsong and MSW Ch. Pistolwhip.

OUTSIDER - 8.2hh bay colt
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Ch. Fifty Not Out (NCh. The Fighting Fifty {B} x Final Salute {S})

This is the first foal from this SP mare who set a speed record for 11f turf at age 3.

On January 5th:

ADIOS AMIGA - 9.2hh dark bay filly
SIRE: WCh. I'm Your Angel {G} (What's It Worth {P} x Ch. I'm Yours Joe {S})
DAM: Ch. Ciao Bella (ICh. Alley Cat {B} x ICh. Twilight Embers {G})

This is the first foal from this SW mare who set a speed record at 11f dirt at age 4.

ETERNAL VOID - 10.1hh bay filly
SIRE: ICh. Long Live The King {S} (Bold Ruler {G} x Infinity {P})
DAM: Into The Void (The Black {G} x Opening Gala {B})

This is the first foal from this MW mare.  She's the same sire/BM sire cross as MSW GCh. Repudiate.

SPLASH O'WHISKEY - 10.2hh chestnut colt
SIRE: NCh. Irish Gold (Ch. Irish River {G} x Golden Princess {S})
DAM: Ch. SplashedWithFlair (Easy Goer {S} x Family Gold {P})

This is the third foal from this MSP mare.

On January 6th:

WEDDED BLISS - 9.0hh black filly
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Lucky In Love (WCh. Secret of Love {G} x Make Me Lucky {S})

This is the third foal from this MW mare.

On January 7th:

ABERDEEN - 9.0hh dark bay colt
SIRE: GCh. Edinburgh (NCh. Slew O'Scots {S} x GCh. Cigarette {G})
DAM: Renegade Song (Cigar {G} x MissionControl {B})

This colt is linebred to Cigar (whoops - but at least he's awesome!)  He's the third foal from this underraced mare.  Once the 2YO hits the track, we should get a better idea of what to expect, but for now, I'm just excited by the pedigree.  Hopefully his name is fitting - a city nearly as big as his sire's namesake.

BABE RUTH - 10.1hh dark bay colt
SIRE: ICh. V is for Victory {S} (GCh. Jazz It Up {G} x Dark Victory {P})
DAM: Ch. Ruth Sage (created)

This is the third foal from this SP mare who set a speed record for 9f dirt at age 3.

LUCIFER'S SIX - 9.0hh chestnut colt
SIRE: ICh. Sixth Day {B} (Planet Hollywood {S} x GCh. Carbon Copy {P})
DAM: Devil's Dream (NCh. Devil May Care {S} x Ch. Hope's Dream {B})

This is the third foal from this MW mare who set a speed record for 12.5f dirt at age 3.  He's 50% pedigreed like MSW Ch. Volkl.

On January 9th:

GENTLE GIANT - 8.2hh dark bay colt
SIRE: Giant's Causeway {S} (Storm Cat {B} x created)
DAM: Ch. Foxy Ruby (Gallant Fox {B} x Ch. Ruby Slippers {G})

This is the first foal from this SP mare who set 3 speed records: 14f dirt and 12.5f SC at age 3, and 12.5f SC at age 5.  He's the same sire/BM sire cross as MSW NCh. Sionnach.

On January 10th:

WITH GUSTO - 8.2hh bay colt
SIRE: ICh. V is for Victory {S} (GCh. Jazz It Up {G} x Dark Victory {P})
DAM: Ch. With A Fleurish (NCh. Gimme A Shot {S} x Fleur's Debate {G})

This is the first foal from this homebred MSW mare who set 3 speed records: 9.5f turf at age 3, and 9f turf and 8.5f dirt at age 4.

ICh. V IS FOR VICTORY would be best suited to produce foals that will peak at 3 years old or later, since he had his best year at age 4. We hope that they will inherit his ability to thrive on both dirt and turf surfaces, and they should do well at classic distances - most of his accolades were earned between 8 and 10f. At a tall 17.0hh, he will add class and legginess to your future foals. As a young sire, he has the potential to still prove himself as a world-class sire if we are lucky. Breeding to V IS FOR VICTORY is potentially a chance to breed to an up-and-coming sire for a reasonable fee before his siring abilities are fully realized (and demand and fees increased to match).

ICh. SLEIPNIR was the 2 Year Old Colt of the Year, so he would likely be suited to producing early maturers.  In addition, he had a stellar 3 year old career, finishing in the top three in all phases of the Triple Crown - arguably proving himself to be one of the top three 3YOs of his generation as well.  Standing 15hh, he's not going to add any height, so taller mares might pair better with him.  As a young sire, his fees remain affordable until he is able to prove himself in the shed.

It's his first year at stud!

NCh. DUCATI had a strong 2- and 3-year old career, making him an ideal match for most mares.  He excelled in the classic distances over dirt (with a couple wins on turf to show versatility).  These conditions match some of the biggest races - think: Triple Crown - so we hope to use Ducati to breed tomorrow's Derby hopefuls.  Spots are limited, because he really is my ideal in terms of talent, height, preferences, and age of maturity, and will primarily be an in-house stud to begin with.

Horses For Sale / Ivy Creek's Annual Dispersal Sale 2019
« on: January 05, 2015, 05:19:38 PM »
I'm a little less organized this year, but still intend to find new homes for some ponies to make room for our new youngsters:

GCh. Cuchulain
6yo chestnut stallion
Multiple Stakes Winner
Ch. Irish River {G} x Au Naturelle {S} (x Crack Shot {B})
This fellow needs only 2 stakes wins at ANY level to stand at stud.  He already has multiple G1 wins/places to his name, as well as having set 3 speed records at ideal distances.  I just don't have the time this year to get him there, and his time is running out as he ages.
SOLD to Windward Farm

Perelandria
5yo black mare
Multi-winner
GCh. Highland Laird {S} x Ch. Mercury Rising {B} (x created)
Has been in the top two 5 out of 11 lifetime starts.  I just don't have a place for this mare in my brood band as she hasn't (yet) met those credentials.  Maybe someone would like to take a chance on her.
SOLD to Fox Run

Ch. Win Zenith
6yo light bay stallion
Multiple Stakes Winner
WCh. Gotta Go {G} x Dark Miss {G}
It doesn't look like this guy will make studhood, but maybe someone wants to take a chance on reaching studhood or see if gelding helps his performance.
SOLD to Edgewood Stud

GCh. Mimic
5yo dark bay stallion
Multiple Stakes Winner
WCh. I'm Your Angel {G} x Slew Copy {P} (x created)
Needs 3 stakes wins of ANY level to reach studhood.  Has multiple G1 wins and two speed records under his belt already.
Selling for $50,000 to Edgewood Stud
Available after 2/24 when his lease ends

Due to restricted time, I only entered three (again):

WINS

Ch. Brianza (3yo, Bellagio x Sovereign Song) won her OA.

Ch. Allnighter II (3yo, All Jazzed Up x Klondike Nights) won the G3 Athenia Stakes.  She's headed to Starfish Stables now on free lease (see my offer under the Leases thread).

PLACES

GCh. Always Ladylike (5yo, Giant's Causeway x Always A Lady) was second in the G2 Red Smith Stakes, behind her own stablemate, Zadar, (who has been leased out to Lochiedo).  She's also headed to Starfish Stables now.

Annual Mixed Auction / 2018 Mixed Auction
« on: July 12, 2014, 02:03:16 AM »
I saw that the mixed auction is supposed to begin at midnight (eek!) but doesn't have any Final Furlong horses consigned.  Is there a script, or do you need help picking consignments?

Will it be delayed?  Or will it just run with members' only contributions?

Just curious!

Anything Goes / We're expecting a RL filly!
« on: May 08, 2014, 05:23:19 AM »
And by "filly", I mean of the human variety.   :P

As a result, I've been a little busier with my free time - lots of things to think about/prepare...  It's my first, so I'm pretty nervous!  Also, I like my sleep a little more now, too, which isn't helping.

Anyhow, I wanted to explain to you why I've been a little more MIA...and share in my excitement.   :)

She's due at the end of August.  Wish us luck!

PS:
The biggest downfall?  It's finally getting gorgeous outside, and the doctor highly advised against riding...  Not sure my willpower is strong enough to cut that out 100%.

We had an incredible day - everyone won, and shockingly, it was mostly 2yos.

6(1) - 6(1) - 0 - 0 - 0

WINS

Finesse (2yo, Magic Cross x Final Salute) won her NW1, bringing her record to 2 (1-1-0).

Fool's Errand (2yo, Foolhardy x Kiasport) won his NW2, bringing his record to 2 (2-0-0).

Khione (2yo, Nightfight x Klondike Nights) won her NW2, bringing her record to 2 (1-0-0).

Walking On Air (2yo, Express Yourself x Magic Supreme) won her maiden, bringing her record to 2 (1-1-0).

Holy Smokes (4yo, Holy Bull x Rodeo Cowgirl) won her OA.

Ch. Worth A Treasure (4yo, Worth My While x Highland Treasure) won the G3 Matriarch Stakes, her second stakes win of the year (and remaining undefeated for the year).  She also set her FOURTH speed record.  It looks like she's one of the rare horses who actually is living up to her name...

I tried to submit a bug for the main FF site, but it doesn't appear to be showing up, even after refreshing.

At the bottom of the "Report Bug" page, when I clicked "Submit Bug", it redirected me to a blank white screen.  It did this twice.

At the Barn / Ivy Creek Updates
« on: March 10, 2014, 04:01:09 PM »
I'm not sure how RP-ish my posts will be/get, but I wanted to have a thread to keep our (imaginary) fan club updated, so that I can have a walk down memory lane from time to time...

Today, the trainer and I hand selected the first round of 2YOs to ship to the track to begin serious training.  The rest will remain at the farm in NY under more basic training (handling, accepting a saddle, etc), but are primarily being given more time to grow up - they don't seem quite mature yet, and we don't like to rush things here.  This system, since we adopted it, seems to have worked well.  And I say "seems to", because we all know how finicky those 2YOs can be on the track!

The "chosen" 2YOs are currently en-route to Belmont, our local track.  As part of their training at the farm as youngsters, they've all been exposed to trailering and loud noises, but the atmosphere of the racetrack will be new.  We chose to ship them early in the week while things are fairly quiet.  Normally, we make our selections earlier in the year and ship then, but this winter has been a grueling one.  It might take our 2YOs a little longer to find their purpose this year, but that's ok.  We never go into "2YO Debut Day" (as we call it) expecting a win!  Remember how I said 2YOs are finicky?  It's all part of the process.

The 2YOs arriving at Belmont this morning include:

-ALL LIT UP, dark bay filly bred by Edgewood Stud, (Ch. Magic Cross {S} x Light The Match {G})
-CALLA LILY, bay filly bred by Ivy Creek, (ICh. Candidate {G} x Sovereign Song {S})

General/Questions / 2017: How'd you do?
« on: January 04, 2014, 06:22:25 PM »
Now that the year is over, how did you do?

This was probably my strongest year yet in several ways.

I joined in 2011, so this was my 7th year in the game.  My ponies really stepped it up, and I earned a massive 60% of my stable lifetime earnings in 2017.   :o

I entered more races than I ever have in a year, which probably helped.  I also modified my training regime, parted with ponies while they were in their peak instead of waiting for them to start fading, etc., which helped me to have my highest ever OTB percentage at 69%.  My ponies won 39% of all the races we entered - even better than last year's impressive 32%.  Thanks to the increased win percent and (I believe) a higher number of stakes entries, we managed to earn $21,296,300 - putting our lifetime earnings at over $35 million now.

As for my 2yo homebreds, 59% are winners, and 15% are stakes winners.  Average earnigns of $76,335. We expect most to do better at age 3.
My 3yos: 91% winners, with 48% stakes winners.  Average earnings of $336,380.
My 4yos: 88% winners, with 44% stakes winners.  Average earnings of $325,916.
My 5yos: 100% winners, with 100% stakes winners.  Average earnings of $410,225.

But perhaps one of our biggest achievements was getting our first ever stallion stud qualified - and we did it TWICE!  GCh. Ducati & GCh. Exit Poll will definitely join our stallion lineup someday, though they will keep running next year.  We also have a number of colts who are well on their way to getting their qualifications if they keep it up, so hopefully next year will also bring good tidings.

Foaling Barn / Ivy Creek's 2018 Foal Crop
« on: January 04, 2014, 05:59:45 PM »
Last year saw us standing our first stallion for his first full season, so we look forward to welcoming several Witness babies.
Last season was incredibly colt-heavy, so we'll see what this season will bring!

We started out with a pretty filly on the first:

ROYAL WEDDING - 8.0hh dark grey filly
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {G})
DAM: Must Be Royal (GCh. Must Be Magic {S} x Ch. Jungle Queen {S})

This little filly is the third from her dam.  The first, a Bellagio filly, will run this spring.  The name seemed fitting, as it is certainly something "royal" that we all would like to "witness".
MUST BE ROYAL visits Animal Kingdom next.

Today, three more joined us:

DEVILMADEMEDOIT - 9.3hh chestnut colt
SIRE: NCh. Carrowmore (Ch. Irish River {S} x Dark Miss {P})
DAM: Devil's Dream (NCh. Devil May Care {S} x Ch. Hope's Dream {B})

This colt is the second from his dam, though the first foal was bred & is owned by Lochiedo.  He's a well-bred, strapping colt, though.
DEVIL'S DREAM visits Sixth Day next for a similar cross as that which produced MSW Ch. Volkl.

JEWELED CROSS - 9.1hh dark bay filly
SIRE: Ch. Magic Cross {S} (Cross Roads {S} x Highland Sorceress {P})
DAM: Ch. Bold Jewel (Bold Ruler {G} x Queen's Jewel {S})

This is the second foal from the dam, and the sire is one of my favorites.
BOLD JEWEL visits V is for Victory next.

KERIAN IMAGE - 8.3hh bay filly
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {G})
DAM: Ch. Keria Toon {S} (created)

This filly is 1/2 to MSW Ch. Singsong and the 2yo multi-winner, Pistolwhip.  The name was meant to connect the names - if you "witness" something, you will forever "carry an image" of that.
KERIA TOON visits Von Lichtenstein this year.

Also, we had a number of mares retire/broodmares we purchased who were not in foal who have been bred:

LUCKY IN LOVE (WCh. Secret Of Love {G} x Make Me Lucky {S}), a multi-winner, visits Witness.
MADAME JUSTICE (Lit de Justice {G} x Lade Be Good {S}), a multi-winner with a speed record, visits Witness.
Ch. WITH A FLEURISH (NCh. Gimme A Shot {S} x Fleur's Debate {G}), a MSW with 3 speed records, visits V is for Victory.
INTO THE VOID (The Black {G} x Opening Gala {B}), a multi-winner, visits Long Live the King for the sire/BM sire cross that produced MSW Ch. Repudiate.
Ch. FOXY RUBY (Gallant Fox {B} x Ch. Ruby Slippers {G}), a stakes placed mare with 3 speed records, visits Giant's Causeway for a technical 3/4 relation to MSW GCh. Sionnach.
GET SHORTY (Planet Hollywood {S} x Jazzanna {B}), a multi-winner, visits Magic Glory for the same sire/BM sire as MSW GCh. Triomphe.
Ch. INDYWIND (A.P. Indy {S} x Windinthewillows {B}), a multi-winner with 2 speed records, visits Strider for the same sire/BM sire as MSW NCh. Star Spun.
Ch. BANAFRIT (Ch. Magic Cross {S} x Egyptian Pharaoh {S}), a MSP mare with a speed record, visits My Lucky Day for a 50% relation to MSW GCh. Akhetnaten.
Ch. FIFTY NOT OUT (NCh. The Fighting Fifty {B} x Final Salute {B}), a stakes placed mare with a speed record, visits Witness.
MANGO FRAPPE (Sunday Silence {S} x Whimsical Victory {B}), a multi-winner with a speed record, visits V is for Victory.
LUCKY DUCKY (created), a multi-winner with 2 speed records, visits Witness.
Ch. RUTH SAGE (created), a stakes placed mare with a speed record, visits V is for Victory.

3 fillies | 1 colt | 41 foals still due

30
I'm excited to say that this year we will be standing not one, but TWO stallions:

ICh. Witness
2006 bay stallion standing 15.0hh
Class Act (G) x Time For Truth (G) - False Promises (S)
Breeder's Cup nominated
2009 3 YEAR OLD COLT OF THE YEAR
FEE: $5,000 LFG

Witness's fee has been reduced to hopefully gain some more attention.  His 4 crops of racing age are very small (average of only 11 foals), so I'm hoping to change that for him.  Most stallions begin with a full 30 foal crop, so he has been put at a disadvantage.

ON THE TRACK

ICH. WITNESS is a multiple stakes winning, multiple stakes placed multi-millionaire.  He was voted the Eclipse 3 Year Old Colt for 2009 thanks to his many wins.  His lifetime wins include the Cadbury Guineas (Gr.1), Cox Plate (Gr.1), Eclipse Stakes (Gr.1), Woodford Reserve Turf Classic (Gr.1), Seabiscuit Breeders' Stakes (Gr.2), Santa Catalina Stakes (Gr.2), Shannon Stakes (Gr.2), Surrey Stakes (Gr.2, hurdles), among others.  He also holds 3 speed records for his efforts, ranging from 5f to 7.5f over turf.  Although he appeared to specialize in turf sprints based on speed records alone, he actually performed equally well over both surfaces and nearly every distance.  He even won two stakes races over hurdles at the end of his career!  He was truly a jack of all trades.  He ran strongly at 2, had his best year at 3, and then began to fade at 4.  He had wins over a variety of distances, from sprints up to 11.5f on turf, and up to 18f over hurdles.  He ran against (and beat each more than once) many now-famous stallions, so the talent is definitely there.  These rivals include: Candidate, Foolhardy, What's Your Point, and Ring of Fire.

PEDIGREE

ICH. WITNESS is the only son of CLASS ACT (G) left standing at stud now that I'm A Classic (sire of last year's Derby & Preakness winner, Von Lichtenstein) has retired.  In fact, he is the only stallion standing that carries the Class Act line until the time that Von Lichtenstein retires.  This line, particularly through I'm A Classic, has proven to be very successful on the track.  Through the damline, WITNESS also adds another rare line, FALSE PROMISES (S).  He is the only stallion standing from that line as well.  The FALSE PROMISES line has yielded a high percentage of stakes quality foals.

IN THE SHED

ICH. WITNESS has had only 4 small crops to race.  In those 4 crops, he has as many foals as most stallions produce in their first 1 1/2 crops (a total of 43 foals of racing age).  Even so, he has a number of stakes level runners, including Ch. Arctic Sister (3YO MSW filly, Gr.1), Ch. Bear Witness (3YO MSW colt, Gr.1), Ch. Saw A Ghost (5YO SW filly, Gr.2), Ch. Saving Grace (4YO SW filly, Gr.3), Ch. Firsthand Account (4YO MSP filly, Gr.1), Ch. Big Brother (5YO MSP gelding, Gr.1), Ch. Apt Witness (3YO MSP gelding, Gr.3), ISeenWhatYouDone (3YO SP filly, Gr.2), Full of Fanfare (3YO SP filly, ung.), and Sea No Evil (5YO SP stallion, ung.). Below is a summary of each crop:

2012 (5YO) - Most of these prefer longer distance turf routes, and they appear to peak around the desired 3 years old (some do well at 2 and 3, some at 3 and 4).  The only two non-winners have had only 8 lifetime starts and 3 lifetime start in 4 years, so they really haven't been given a fair chance.  Including those two, 82% of this crop is a winner or stakes level, and 55% hold a speed record over longer distances (10.5f to 15.5f, mainly over turf).
2013 (4YO) - 89% of runners are winners or stakes level.
2014 (3YO) - 100% are winners or stakes level (excluding 1 unraced), and 25% of those are MSWs
2015 (2YO) - only 1 winner from 8 to race, but most are unraced

ICh. WITNESS would be best suited to produce foals that will peak at 3 years old.  They appear to prefer long distance turf, so consider sending your sprinter mares and those that matured at 2YO to him to balance him out.  He is not a tall fellow, so taller mares are preferred.  He will infuse the coveted CLASS ACT lines into your herd.  At only $5,000 and with a live foal guarantee, he's a good investment.

ICh. V is for Victory
2008 chestnut stallion standing 17.0hh
Jazz It Up (G) x Dark Victory (P) (created)
Breeder's Cup nominated
FEE: $5,000 LFG

V is for Victory's fee is still low because his first crop is just turning 3 and I don't believe they have hit their stride yet.  However, if they take after their sire, they will figure it out soon, and his fee may go up next year.  Get him at this low rate while you can!

ON THE TRACK

ICH. V IS FOR VICTORY is a multiple stakes winning, multiple stakes placed multi-millionaire.  His lifetime wins include the Canadian International (Gr.1), Forego Stakes (Gr.1), Pimlico Special (Gr.1-twice!), Arlington Million (Gr.1), Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr.1), Caulfield Sprint (Gr.2), San Marcos Stakes (Gr.2), and Strub Stakes (Gr.2), among others.  He also holds 2 speed records for his efforts, both at 10f over turf.  Although he earned his speed records and the majority of his earnings on turf, he actually achieved more stakes wins over dirt, proving his versatility.  He was only started one time at 2, remaining unplaced.  His career truly started at 3, where he earned his first win in his first attempt (at the claiming level), and then later went on to earn his first stakes win.  He had his best year at 4 years of age, then began to fade slightly during his 5 year old campaign.  He had stakes wins over a variety of distances, from 5.5f to 10f.  He ran against - and beat - many now-famous stallions, so the talent is definitely there.  These rivals include: Formal Occasion, Irish Gold, Yes It's Paddy, Dark Demand, Bellagio, Sleipnir, and Express Yourself

PEDIGREE
ICH. V IS FOR VICTORY is one of three sons of JAZZ IT UP (G) standing at stud, with the others being WCH. ALL JAZZED UP (S) and GCH. MAJOR'S FLIGHT (S).  V IS FOR VICTORY is the younger, less proven (and much cheaper) option of the three, with ALL JAZZED UP's first crop turning 4 and MAJOR'S FLIGHT's first crop turning 7.  Both of the other JAZZ IT UP sons seem to produce runners who don't blossom until 3, much like V IS FOR VICTORY's first crop will hopefully do this year.  Through the damline, V IS FOR VICTORY also adds another strong line.  His dam, though created, produced two stallions from 4 foals.  V IS FOR VICTORY is a 1/2 brother to ICH. DARK CONTINENT (S) (by LAND HO (S)), proving that his damline is perhaps equally as impressive as his sireline, a feat not every stallion can claim.

IN THE SHED

ICH. V IS FOR VICTORY has only one crop to race so far.  We expect his foals to mature at 3 or 4, on average.  So far, his most impressive get include Silent Victor (2YO SP colt, Gr.1), and several 2yo winners: V is for Valiant, Final Victory, Fooled Again, and Dark Humor.

ICh. V IS FOR VICTORY would be best suited to produce foals that will peak at 3 years old or later, by our estimation.  We hope that they will inherit his ability to thrive on both dirt and turf surfaces, and they should do well at classic distances.
