That's all really interesting.

(No way it's coming to FF, though, just thinking about it makes my brain hurt, let alone adding logic to the game. I know you weren't suggesting that, but just to be clear.)

Not in a million years!!! Just one of the “joys” of being Retired. Too much time on my hands and not a lot to do with it (or a “honey-do” list that is so overwhelming you don’t even want to think about where to start). So the mind wanders onto random thoughts!!!

Finally, one of the overdue mares decided she had held onto her foal long enough. Still 5 overdue mares left.

A follow up question:-

If the horse was born in America and shipped to Australia to race, would he be qualified to run in 3YO races after Aug 1st, 2017 (not that you’d want to as he would be very young still).

Anything Goes / Southern/Northern Hemisphere Age Differences
« on: February 16, 2018, 06:00:17 pm »
Somebody had posted something recently about ages for Australian horses and, while it doesn’t affect horses in FF, it got me thinking (always a bad thing).

Scenario:- Horse A is born in Australia on Jan 10, 2015. On Aug 1, 2017, he would be classified as a 3YO in Australia but still be classified as a 2YO in America. If he was sent to be trained and race in America, would he be able to race there as a 2YO before Dec 31st, 2017? Would it matter if he had raced as a 3YO in Australia before being shipped to America?

I tried googling this question but wasn’t able to figure out what to search for. Any ideas of where I could go to find the answer to my question? Or does anybody know the answer?

Beautiful foals, Lewis! I'm impressed by all the names - I have a hard enough time with the small handful I have! Looking forward to the rest of your crop :)

Thanks. I try and make sure the name is something related to both the Sires and the Dams names (or at least parts of their names). With some of them, it is pretty easy e.g. Super(docious) Mirac(u)l(ous Lov)e. However, sometimes I have to really stretch the imagination to come up with a suitable name. Every once in a while, nothing comes readily to mind and I’ll have to think of something from my past that had special meaning to me (e.g. an old girlfriend’s nickname or a favorite song or book from when I was younger). I also usually start planning the name from as soon as the breeding takes place so, if nothing comes to mind right away, I have about a year to figure out a name. The danger is that somebody might end up taking a name I had thought up or used a name that was very close to one I had thought up and I’ll have to rethink that name.

4(2)-1(1)-0-1(1)-1 $70,200

I GOT MY FIRST STAKES WIN! I'M SO EXCITED! I even told my husband this morning ahahah Also, sent another 3yo to a stakes race. Really only entered her because there were only 2 other member owned horses. She's at least earned money for her trip home from Australia.

Congratulations on this. It is always exciting to get your first SW. May it be the first of many (except when running against Starfish horses, LOL).

Questions / Re: Training Schedule
« on: February 10, 2018, 03:31:18 pm »
That does not currently happen. Currently automatic workouts will not run if:
- the horse is at a farm (yours or boarding)
- the horse is entered in a race
- the horse hasn't already worked out (e.g. you didn't do a manual workout)
- the horse has raced today

If your horse is injured during training (which is meant to be rare, but as others have said the more you train the more you roll that virtual dice), its training schedule will be deleted so that it doesn't train while injured, but there's nothing preventing you from resetting the training schedule the next day (it's up to you to decide how long a recovery the horse needs).

Hope that helps clarify things. :)

Does this mean that even if you have a horse set up with an active Training Schedule, if it fits any of these conditions, it will not be trained? I seem to spend so much time adding and deleting horses Training Schedules when they get shipped to my Farm or a Boarding Farm, etc, time that could be used for better planning. I usually delete their schedule when they are at a Farm but don't always remember to add it back in when they are back at a Track.

Also, what about if a horse is In Transit? Presumably it wouldn't be training at that time, especially if it is travelling by Air.
