Missed reporting on one foal, born on June 17th, about 3 weeks early:-

LIVE STAR
N.Ch. LiveLong&Prosper x Angela's Starfish - NCh. Seattle Sorcerer (S)
7.3h chestnut colt

1/2 brother to Brisingida

I guess that the fact that he is only 7.3h is due to the fact that he was almost 3 weeks early.

We did have another foal born overnight, but unfortunately she was stillborn.
NCh. Worthy Victor x The Orca Spirit (B) - Created
3/4 sister to Dare To Try
1/2 sister to NCh. The Voyage Home, Zodiac Spirit, Spirit of Change

115 out of 121 - 56 colts, 51 fillies, 8 stillborn - 6 still due - 6 more due in July

Annual Mixed Auction / Re: How'd you do 2022?
« on: July 02, 2018, 02:05:37 am »
Sorry, that is too close.

No problem. My second choice was going to be Foolish Lady. There is already a My Lady's Fool, but I think this should be far enough away to be acceptable.

Now just twiddling my thumbs until spending limits are increased.

Shelbie, I hate to burst your bubble but, when Shanthi raises the limits, it is only the "Number of Horses" limit that is raised, not the actual Spending limit. We are still limited to $100k max. Like me, you're just going to have to sit the rest of this Auction out.

Got our first choice but had to go to the maximum $100k to get her.

Unnamed yearling filly by FFCh. I'm No Fool (S) out of GCh. Peer To Peer (S).

I would like to name her Queen of Fools, but, as there already is a Queen’s Fool, I don’t know if this would be considered to be too close to that name.

Only 6 runners but had the winners of both the Canadian Classics. The other 4 horses are still running!!!

Ch. Lap of Honor (3yo, Worthy Victor) in the Queen's Plate Stakes (Gr. 1) - First leg of the Canadian Triple Crown
Ch. Bonnie's Flight (3yo, Major's Flight) in the Woodbine Oaks (Gr. 2) - First leg of the Fillies Canadian Triple Crown

Barring injuries, both horses will go to Fort Erie for the second legs.

Thrilled with GCh. Fool To Be Smokin's win in the G1 Stephen Foster. His 8th SW and he is already Stud-Qualified. Also had 2nd & 4th in the same race. In addition,  Beyond the Void's 4th in the G1 Middle Park bodes well for the future.

6(6)-1(1)-1(1)-0-2(2) $687,500

b]Wins:
GCh. Fool To Be Smokin' (4yo, Foolhardy) in the Stephen Foster Stakes (Gr. 1)

I had another "raceday" today, with my dog and a friend! We participated in a dog trekking event and we had great fun although we were the "also rans" there
But not the last ones of them!!

I'm sure you weren't the last ones. I think almost all of my runners today finished behind you!!!

8(8)-0-1(1)-0-1(1) $27,750

22(22)-4(4)-3(3)-1(1)-1(1) $887,750

Not great in quantity, but definitely in quality. 4 winners, all SW including 2 G1W.  We did get our 8th Classic winner of the year.

Ledgendary Fortune (3yo, Major's Flight) in the Northern Dancer Stakes (Ungr.) - Pleasant surprise as he was the least favored of our runners in this race (at least in our opinion).
Ch. Charlotte Victory (3yo, Worthy Victor) in the Irish Oaks Stakes (Gr. 1) - 4th in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, behind stable companion Secret Victor (who was only 7th in this race).
NCh. Gaudy Night (7yo, Prince Of Wonder) in the The Grand National (Gr. 1) - 2nd win in this race and just needs one more SW of any grade to become Stud-Qualified (see thread on this race on the Forum).

Thanks.

His record in this race is 2019 (1st), 2020 (3rd), 2021 (4th) and 2022 (1st), so he seems to like this race. Hopefully, we'll be able to get him the last SW he needs to become Stud-Qualified, in which case he will go to Stud next year.

Not bad for a horse who's first ever win was in a $30,000 Claiming race, nearly four years ago, and we were lucky that he went unclaimed then. He was a $5,000 purchase from Cricket Hill as a yearling and is named after a horse that my family owned in Jamaica about 40 years ago.

Fifths:
Ch. Casa de Victor (3yo, Worthy Victor) in the Epsom Derby Stakes (Gr. 1) - Disappointing performance from our 2,000 Guineas winner. He seems to be an all-or-nothing type with 5 wins and 4 unplaced in his 9 races. I guess today was a "nothing" day for him.

Also Rans:
Pseudo Echo (2yo, Candidate) 6th in an Allowance
Ch. Worthy Endeavor (3yo, Worthy Victor) 6th in the Epsom Derby Stakes (Gr. 1)
Ch. Victor's Podium (3yo, Worthy Victor) 8th in the Belmont Stakes (Gr. 1) - Our Preakness winner. The first time he has finished off-the-board.

Apart from Starfish horses finishing 1-2 in the G1. Manhattan Handicap, nothing warranted writing about.

The race was won by Ch. Zealous (5yo, Monarchos) with [https://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=21508]NCh. Holy Spurs (6yo, Tottenham Hotspur) in second place.

The only other thing of note was that we successfully claimed [https://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=29412]Ch. Fool Moon from Lochiedo Stables after he won his Claiming Race.

Interesting to note that 2 of the 2YO Stakes races were won by FFCh. Foolhardy progeny.
