Questions / Race Entry Limits
« on: May 16, 2018, 03:28:25 am »
I just had a question out of pure curiosity.

In most Races, each stable is limited to 3 entries. What would happen in the following scenario?

Stable A has a horse, Leased Horse, that they have Leased from Stable B and has entered that horse in a (for arguments sake) Stakes Race. At the same time, Stable B wants to enter 3 horses in the same race. Would they be able to enter all 3?

I know that in the Post Parade, Leased Horse would show up as owned by Stable B and Stable A would only be able to enter a maximum of 2 non-leased horses for that race. Presumably, Stable B would still be able to enter 3 horses in the race (even though the Post Parade would show that they had 4 horses in the race).

Unfortunately, there will be no Irish TC winner this year. What're My Chances, who won the Irish 2,000 Guineas last week, has not recovered and has an "F" for Energy. We will only have one runner, Glory Honor&Praise, who finished 4th in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, but who has recovered his Energy very quickly..

Current plans are for our two Derby runners, Bele (4th) and Bong Bong Bong (3rd), to run in the Preakness, as well as Victor's Podium, who didn't run in the Derby.

As for the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, current plans are for all three of our Oaks runners, Ghostly Gift (5th), Tottenham Dancer (6th), and Born to Dream (10th), to run.

Foaling Barn / Re: Starfish Stables Foals - 2022

And one more. Both mother and baby doing fine.

NIMBUS 2022
NCh. Away The Lads x Castlestone Nimbus - War Admiral (S)
9.1h dark grey filly
The Nimbus 2000 was a broom used in some of the Harry Potter books and, since we are in FF year 2022, I decided to change the number.

110 out of 121 - 54 colts, 49 fillies, 7 stillborn - 11 still due - 1 due in May

Two more babies, only 2 more due in May. Both mother's and both babies are doing fine.

KIPIT OD BIJESA
GCh. Zadar x Ch. Fit to be Tied - FFCh. High Chances (S)
9.0h black colt
The name is Croatian for Fit to be Tied (at least, according to a Translation program). Zadar is the oldest continuously inhabited Croatian city, so I decided to combine the mother's name with that fact.

STREET SECRETS
ICh. Calle de Oro x Major Secret (B) - GCh. Major's Flight (B)
8.2h bay filly

1/2 sister to Furtive

109 out of 121 - 54 colts, 48 fillies, 7 stillborn - 12 still due - 2 due in May

One more baby made his appearance today.

HOGSMEADE DREAMS
NCh. Hogsmeade x Thinking of Dreams (S) - Created
8.2h dark grey filly

3/4 sister to Ch. Tau Alpha C
1/2 sister to GCh. Unbreakable Vow, GCh. Lohan, Ch. Silver Dreams, Ch. Sheza Dreamer, Ch. Rising Fast, Ch. Highland Dreams, Tarantino, Take Your Chances

We decided that, at the ripe old age of 22, and after producing 17 foals, it was time to retire Thinking of Dreams. 13 of her 14 runners have been winners, including 6 SW (5 are MSW) and she has produced 2 Millionaires. Her progeny are averaging over $500k so it is a well deserved retirement.

107 out of 121 - 53 colts, 47 fillies, 7 stillborn - 14 still due - 4 due in May

General/Questions / Re: Irish, English, American TC/TT races
« on: May 10, 2018, 02:44:41 am »
I think the Irish Triple Crown is incomplete in the game, and also the Australian. These dates are for FF races; I'll be looking up the real life dates as they come. I decided to write about races that have purses of at least $1,000,000; some of them are part of Triple Crowns.

The Irish TC is actually complete as the Irish St. Leger is the 3rd leg, even though it is not restricted to 3YO's. I believe that the RL version was changed to 3YO & Up a few years ago as they were only getting about 3-4 runners each year. This year, the FF version will be Jul 28th. It will be very hard to get a FF Irish TC winner as the 2,000 Guineas and the Derby are only one week apart and most horses haven't had a chance to recover their Energy in time.

The RL American TT is very confusing as, depending on where you get the info, the 3rd leg varies between the Coaching Club American Oaks and the Mother Goose. The first two legs are the Kentucky Oaks and the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.

As Hilda pointed out, the 3rd leg of the Australian TC is not run in FF so we will never have a TC Winner.

One interesting thing about the Canadian TC (in FF at least, not sure about RL) is that the first 2 legs are run on Dirt and the 3rd leg is run on Turf.

After a number of disappointing days, finally something to write about. Had the winners of both the Irish Classics and our runners finished 1-2-3 in the G3 Pimlico Breeders' Cup Distaff.
