Sorry to hear about his retirement but hope he will soon recover from his injury.

One of his sons, Last For More, is standing at ourFarm and will hopefully carry on his legacy.

DIXIE LIGHTNING
WCh. Usain Bolt x Whistlin' Dixie (P) - Dixieland Jazz (G)

Whistlin' Dixie had a hard time during this birth and, taking into consideration that she had lost her foal last year and that she was 20 years old, we took the decision to retire her. Dixie only ran twice and, as the expression goes, "didn't trouble the judges" in either race. It wasn't until she was retired to stud that she came into her own. She produced 12 foals (one was stillborn), 9 of which have raced so far. All 9 are winners, including 6 SW, 4 of which are MSW's and Millionaires. Her progeny have average earnings of more than $800k. Two of her daughters are broodmares and one of her sons, GCh. Superdocious, is standing at Stud, all at our Farm. She ended with a Platinum breeding ranking (8.7).

70 out of 121 - 36 colts, 31 fillies, 3 stillborn - 51 still due (19 left for March)

Congratulations on your wedding and the new foal. A very appropriate name under the circumstances.

May both be major blessings for you.

Stallion Advertising / What's Debatable
« on: March 02, 2018, 03:21:26 pm »
We are sad to announce that WCh. What's Debatable passed away this morning at the ripe old age of 21.

As a racehorse, he won 12 out of his 21 races, including 8 SW (they weren't broken down by Grades back then), never once finishing outside the first 3 in any of his races. He had total earnings of $1.6m and had 3 Speed Records.  In 2005 as a 4YO, he won 7 out of his 8 races, all Stakes races, finishing 2nd in the other one. All of his races were on Dirt.

He was Retired to Stud in 2006, his first crop being born in 2007. He produced 145 racers, with 121 of them winning at least one race. He had 46 SW, of which 30 were MSW and had 18 Millionaires, and average earnings of just over $386k.
He seemed to be a better sire of fillies than colts as he had 20 female MSW as against 10 male.

As a Sire, his ranking was Silver (5.5) and as a Broodmare Sire, he was Gold (5.7). His last crop were born in 2017 and then he was Retired. None of his sons have made it to Stallion Status, however, a number of his daughters are active Broodmares who will carry on his lineage.

While he seemed to be enjoying his Retirement, it was noticeable from the beginning of this year that his health was deteriorating and he passed away peacefully during the night.

ROMAN CANDLE
FFCh. Black Cherry x Gift of Fire - Point Given (B)
8.2h dark bay colt

Sadly, Gift of Fire did not survive her maiden foaling.

Sorry to hear about your lost mare. Hopefully her foal will do her proud.

SCARLET TIDE
FFCh. Black Cherry x In Thy Name (P) - Created
8.0h brown filly

Beautiful filly. I don't know why I sold In Thy Name in 2015. I must have had a brain f**t!!! She's had 4 MSW (including 2 Millionaires) out of 5 runners. I guess my Crystal Ball must have been broken that day.

I dare you to name a colt (or filly, even better!) Beast from the East. :D

Unfortunately, that is one character too long. If you dropped all the spaces, that would work.

Hey Lewis, I had booked Nightfall to Straticus for March 2B but she foaled extremely late. Does he still have a slot available, and how soon? Thanks!

Not a problem. His next available slots are both Apr 2 slots, also all of May. Let me know what you want to change her to.

Successfully claimed GCh. Wonder Woman (6yo, Black Warrior) from Starfish Stables - oh dear I hope you were really ready to sell her Lewis, she is glorious!

I sometimes enter horses in a $50,000 Claiming Race to give them a race (and possibly to try and resurrect their interest in racing), figuring that the chances of a horse being Claimed out of these races are not great (unless it is something along the caliber of a Foolhardy). Having said that, I had 3 horses entered in a $50,000 Claiming Race today and all 3 got Claimed. C'est la vie. I wasn't really planning on selling them but that is a chance you take with these races.

Good luck with her, also to Emma (Spock's Gold) and Shelbie (Dixie's Spurs).
