Questions / Breed Rankings Question
« on: January 23, 2016, 02:18:03 PM »
Ok, so I apologize in advance if this has come up before, but I searched the forums and didn't find anything.

I've been playing this game for a few years now, and I was wondering exactly how breed ranking is determined for broodmares. I've read the FAQ and all the forum posts I could find on it, but I still don't get it. I know that it has to do with a points system and all that, but it doesn't make sense to me that you can have one mare with a silver ranking who only has 2 foals - one a winner, the other unraced - and yet have another mare with no breed ranking and 5 foals - winners, SW winners, placers, and unraced. Is there a reason behind this?

I would have loved to have been there to see him win! I was so excited, since I'm one of those people who has never seen a Triple Crown before. I didn't even have to tell my family that he won, too. All they had to do was guess when I started squealing and dancing like a maniac.

Ok. Glad to know it wasn't a problem with my computer at least.

Questions / Site error?
« on: March 21, 2015, 08:26:09 PM »
I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but for several days now I've been getting the following error off and on:

"An error occurred.

Sorry, the page you are looking for is unavailable. Please try again later.

If you are the system administrator of this resource then you should check the error log for details.

Faithfully yours, nginx."

Is this happening to other people or is it just me?

General/Questions / Re: 2yo's for 2019...

Well, I know I didn't post last year, but I've got a few up-and-coming runners that I'm looking forward to.

Chase The Sun (NCh. Eighteen Karat x Outrun the Wind), a Generous Bloodstock baby, is one I'm really excited about. Her dam is a silver breeder, and she has a lot of prestigious names in her pedigree including What's It Worth, Mr. Prospector, Highland Rogue, and Man O'War.

Kindling (WCh. I'm Your Angel x Light A Candle), bred by Semiahmoo Stables, is another one. He's another What's It Worth descendent.

Sunset Boulevard (FFCh. TakeMeToHollywood x Ch. Wiccan Moon), bred by Diamond Dale Farm, has What's It Worth and Tiznow in his bloodlines.

Other than that, I have one homebred - He's Her Knight (WCh. Double Cross x Ch. Fairly Persistent) - and one created filly who will be running for me next year. He's Her Knight is the half brother of a 2 YO I had race this year, Silvertongue, who didn't do more than stare at the pretty bobbing tails in the distance, so I really don't know how Knight will do.

And that's it for me. Small crew, but hopefully we'll have some winners in the mix.

Just had one horse out today.

Art of Love (3 YO by GCh. High On Love x Art of Zen) placed 4th in her 6f Allowance. A little on the disappointing side, but she did come home with a paycheck and it has been a while since she last had a holiday, so for now it's back to the farm for a little R&R. Maybe a vacation will be what she needs to get going again.

Apparently the way to win is simply lease Alyssa's horses

I am inclined to agree with you on that one. We had two out on the track originally.

Oedipus Rex (2 YO by ICh. Unabridged x Theatrical Lady) - an Ivy Creek lease - placed first in his NW2. I want to know what they feed their babies over there, because I could use some of that luck for my own horses.

Downbythecreek (4 YO by NCh. Stars 'n' Stripes x Downbythebay) placed 4th in his 10.5f Allowance. He seems to be a pretty consistent placer, but winning doesn't really seem to be his forte, so we may be trying him on SC before too long.

Also successfully claimed Como Mola today (2 YO by ICh. Stressed x Flower Petal), who placed 2nd in his 8.5f claimer. He seems to be running pretty well for a 2 YO, so I'm interested to see what he's got in him as he finishes his 2 YO year and moves on into his 3 YO year.

Overall, I'd say we had a pretty decent race day.

Yesterday was a very nice day for us. Five went out, four came home with paychecks.

Stormchaser (2 YO by FFCh. Foolhardy x Ch. Flash of Lightning) and Queen O'Scotts (3 YO by ICh. Prince of Wonder x Sweet 'n' Sour), who have been leased from Ivy Creek Farm, both finished 1st in their respective races. Stormchaser has won 1st in both of his two starts, and Queen O'Scotts has 4 wins out of 5 starts under her belt, so I have high hopes for these two little beauties.

Magic Appeal (4 YO by ICh. Magic Glory x Polly's Appeal) placed 3rd in his 10.5f Allowance on SC.

Elasian (2 YO by ICh. Highland Magic x Eclipse) placed 5th in his NW3.

The only one who didn't come home with a paycheck was Slip in the Snow (3 YO by NCh. Slip In The Mud x Winter Joy), who placed 6th/6 in her 13.5f Allowance. I threw her on this track to see how she ran in endurance runs, but it looks like we should just leave her on the classic tracks.

Had a better day today. 3 out, all came home with paychecks.

Ch. Awesomette (4 YO by Ch. Mr. Townsend x Dixie Chick), who I recently got in the Locheido Stables auction, placed 4th in her 12f Allowance.

Three Chances (3 YO by GCh. Steal Your Heart x Three Mississippi), also new to our stable, placed 1st in her 7.5f Allowance. Of her 4 starts, she's won 2 and showed 2, so I have high hopes for this little girl.

Yes It's An Issue (3 YO by NCh. Yes It's Paddy x Ch. Debatable Issue) placed 3rd in her 6.5f Maiden. This horse really has been an issue. I've been working with her all year, trying to figure her out, so hopefully this isn't a fluke and actually means I'm finally getting somewhere with this horse.

Nothing spectacular on my end.

Minute In Gigi (3 YO by GCh. Simply Heroic x Approaching Fires) placed 2nd in her NW3. I've been running her mostly on classic tracks without much luck, so I thought I'd try endurance this time and it seems to have paid off. Hoping she can keep this up.

Alley Heart (3 YO by ICh. Alley Cat x Ch. Wild Bidder) placed 5th of 6 in her NW2. Having trouble figuring this one out, but at least she came home with a small paycheck this time.

I've had no luck with my 2 YOs, but I suppose that's to be expected. Rossa's Account (NCh. Broad Account x Kiptarossa) and Silvertongue (Silver Charm x Ch. Fairly Persistent) placed 8th and 11th respectively. Will probably focus on training for these two from here to December so that maybe I can figure them out before their 3 YO seasons.

Annual 2yo Auction / Re: 2018 2yo Auction Horses Consigned

Found one who really caught my eye.

King of Glen is a 15.3hh colt by ICh. Long Live The King x Lady Of The Glen. Dam wasn't run until 5 years old and placed first in the two starts she had that year, so hoping for a good, solid runner.

Had only one horse run this time.

Minute In Gigi (3yo, Simply Heroic x Approaching Fires) ran 3rd in her NW1 Allowance. Still trying to figure this girl out, but she does seem to have some potential.

Haven't ever posted much before but thought I'd give it a go this time.

Had two runners out today.

Perfect Grace (3yo, Doodles x Flawless) ran 1st in her NW1 Allowance. This was her first time on the track for us, so quite pleased with the results.

Stablemate End of an Affaire (3yo, Government Secret x Au Revoir) didn't do so well, placing 8th/10 in the same race. This was also her first time running for us, so hoping that we can figure her out and get her going soon.
