Planet Hollywood Retires
« on: July 07, 2006, 03:44:44 pm »
Planet Hollywood, longtime stud at Storybook Farms, is regretfully retired from breeding.  He'd been a bit stiff in the mornings lately and we had the vet out to check him over.  She confirmed degenerative arthritis in his hocks.  Some shots have helped make him comfortable, but she suggested we retire him from breeding to help prolong his quality of life.  We hate to see him leave the breeding shed, but at least he's left a legacy of great runners behind.

Planet Hollywood has sired 108 foals in his career at stud, including 11 that will be born next year.  Famous foals include multi-millionaires Shesanaturalactor, 2006 Baby Triple winner Atlantis, BC SC Classic and Grand National winner Void, sprinter Dreamboat, Hollywood Mystery as well as MSW Noteasybeinggreen, MSW Orion's Bell, MSW Kensington Road, and MSW Hollywood Magic.

Mare owners who had planned to breed to Hollywood can request a transfer of breeding over to one of our other stallions if they wish.

Wow, we've been losing quite a few of our great studs.  I'm glad I was lucky enough to have a mare in foal to him this year.
He was an awesome stud, I'm sorry to hear that he had to be retired :(

Sad to hear that Andrea :( At least I have a few breeding stock from his line to carry it on though, and another foal on the way next year (hopefully) from him. Good solid stallion though, and I'm sad to see him go.

Aww, poor guy. Hopefully the treatment will help keep him comfy so he can enjoy the rest of his years.

Hehe.  He did throw lovely fillies didn't he?  Was surprising how much better luck his fillies had than his colts.

There are 3 horses by Planet Hollywood in the 2010 Mixed Auction, including 2 mares.  :)

I agree. :) Hollywood Mystery has been bred to Worth for a July foal next year.  Sad to see Hollywood retire but at least he threw some great racers. Hope he stays happy and healthy for the rest of his years.

I'm sure it's a bittersweet day for Storybook....Thanks, Andrea, for letting me in on the Planet Hollywood legacy in his final breeding season.

Ahh I'm going to miss him. He was an excellent sire, one of the best.

This is a pretty old post I know but I somehow missed it over the summer...just wanted to send Andrea my sympathy for Planet Hollywood, one of the original sires of FF. So sad to be losing these founding sires of the game but I guess it shows how far we've come when thier grandfoals are running the track.
