2011 Color War Results
« on: January 14, 2008, 06:35:53 pm »
Part One - Team Placings

So, based on the points from the racing (*cough*only*cough*) challenge, the standings were:
1st: In-Dey-Goes
2nd: Alfalfa Romeos
3rd: Juicers
4th: Ultraviolets
5th: Blue Ribbons
6th: Red Toe Maters
7th: Saffron Superstars

After taking participation into account, the final standings are:
1st: In-Dey-Goes
2nd: Red Toe Maters
3rd: Alfalfa Romeos
4th: Ultraviolets
5th: Juicers
6th: Saffron Superstars
7th: Blue Ribbons

Note: The Blue Ribbons were already last thanks to low participation, but they lost even more points because they were the only team to race their hoses injured.  Do not do this in the future, please!

Points were awarded for racing horses on a regular (i.e. monthly or more) schedule.  If a horse was injured and you did not race it, you got credit for that month anyway.  If you did not race a healthy horse, or raced an injured horse, you lost credit.  Captains also lost credit based on whether members voted for races that never got entered.

I have not finished calculating out individual member activity, but hope to do that later this week, and then I can award prizes.

Congrats to all the teams, especially the In-Dey-Goes for great participation and racing!

OK, here it is...time for prizes! :)

Monetary Prizes
All monetary prizes were heavily influenced by how active you were for your team.  So you have no one but yourself to blame if you got way less than some of your teammates. ;)  (Note: I did base it on an expected participation rate of 75%, so if you were more active, you got extra money, if you were less active, you got less money)

Team Captains - Base of $200,000
I'm sad to say we had a couple of really pathetically (in)active captains.  On the other hand, we had some really awesome ones, too. :)

Bam of Red Toe Maters: $210,000
Taylon of Alfalfa Romeos: $0
Skyclad of Blue Ribbons: $190,000
Edea of The Ultraviolets: $270,000
Kim of The Juicers: $125,000
Juli of Saffron Superstars: $325,000
Dawn of In-Dey-Goes: $380,000

Team Members: Because member activity varied so wildly, I decided to be nice and guarantee everyone at least 50% of the prize money.  The other 50% was earned based on activity.
In-Dey-Goes: Base $750,000
Dawn of Battle Hill: $611,250
Paul of Windward: $866,250
Emily of Spirit Mountain: $768,750
Rachel of Willow Run: $510,000
Brandi of End of Time: $873,750
Ashley of Dream Acres: $753,750
Jason of Vaucluse: $693,750
Mallory of Stormy Island: $540,000
Jei of Shizuka Takara: $525,000

Red Toe Maters: Base $500,000
Bethaany of Windsor Arms: $510,000
Bam of Snowbird: $520,000
Andrea of Storybook: $530,000
Moochy of Artful Acres: $507,500
Shannon of Shadowbrook: $327,500
Kaycie of Legacy Int'l: $480,000
Paul of Dege Destroyers: $372,500

Monica of FoxHill: $342,000
Carole of Iron Spur: $253,500
Erika of Eat Our Dust: $370,500
Maya of Fleet Feet: $300,000
Rhianon of Morning Star: $337,500

Horse Prizes
Again, the quality of horses you receive are based on how active you were for your team, and how well your team did overall.

You may pick 2 horses...an unborn foal does count as a horse ;), so if you pick the broodmare, that's it.

In-Dey-Goes:
Dawn of Battle Hill:

I would love to get the broodmare, I'm Yours Joe. No lie, I was actually thinking about an hour ago how awesome it would be to own a Second Chance broodmare... and I'm pretty sure I actually just had her page up lol.

Thank you so much ;D Congrats to everyone! There are some very nice horses being offered up :)

I'll go for the long-term view and take Little Miss (http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=455).  It's sort of hard to turn down an ICh. ;)

Thanks!  Prize time is always a good time in the color war :) (And I imagine it's probably one of your least favorite times since you have to find 80-gazillion horses to hand out ;)).

Wow!   :o  Thanks Shanthi!

I'll take the two youngsters (and hope they help out!):

Isobella's Sea - http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=6927
Unnamed - http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=6055

Woohoo!  Glad to get a Seabiscuit daughter & a Tiznow son.  Although...the Seabiscuit daughter is a bit scrawny as of yet.  Looks to be a late bloomer...but pretty!

I will not give out horses unless you link to their names.  Yes, it may only take a minute of my time to go back and find your name on the previous pages, but if I have to do that 50 times, that's a lot of minutes. ;)

Shanthi, thank you so much, it's so generous of you to offer these beautiful horses.  The broodmare Honor Bright was very tempting, but I couldn't turn down a Highland Mystery yearling.  Now, I just need to come up with the perfect name :)

I would love Prospect of Honor

Note that all of the prize horses have a "no sell restriction" on them.  This means that, if you no longer want the horse, you will only be able to give the horse back to FF, for free.

The point of the horse prizes is to use them (and, ideally, improve your stable with them), not sell them immediately for a quick buck.

Could we possibly lease them?  I feel this would be a feasible option since in the case of racehorses they sometimes respond to different training and sometimes need to be "kept up" because of sparse time. This assumes that in either case the owner doesn't want to "give up" the horse. And in the case of broodmares, some of their offspring are going to be sold anyway so why not allow them to be leased and let the other stable soak up the breeding fees and shipping fees instead of the owner having to.  Just a suggestion...:)

The point of this prize, as I said 2 pages ago, the point is to use these horses and improve your stable with them.  If you don't want to use them, give them back to FF.

You can still make money on these horses by selling foals.  But if you can't sell/lease the mare herself, then you actually have to think about who to breed her to, when to breed her, etc.  As opposed to just farming her out to the highest bidder every year.
