I expected there to be more rigorous bidding (I guess I'm just used to the Foal and 2yo Auctions, haha), so I bid on three with super low max bids with the promise that if I'm outbid on ANY, that's that. No trying to win the horse back, since I really don't need horses -- so much so that unless my ponies kick it up a notch, I'll be looking at another auction due to debt.  ::)

So, of course, I walk away with three for $1,000 each, and I have a bid on a really nice yearling I want. But at least at that cost, they should earn back their sale price!

The horse we really liked was French Resistance, a Man O'War filly out of a champion create mare who has produced 5 winners from 5 runners, including a MSW and SP. She hasn't raced since December but I'm a huge sucker for Man O'War and with her being only four, she has plenty of racing years ahead of her and makes for an excellent broodmare prospect.

Fatal Point was the second filly we picked up. She's by Point Given out of a champion Valid Wager mare who has produced 3 winners from 4 runners, and is a half-sister to 1 SW and 4 SP horses. She hasn't raced this year, but she was in the money 15/16 times last year. Hoping she hasn't lost a step.

Last up is Moonstorm, an Easy Goer colt out of a silver-ranked, champion Highland Rouge mare. He's had a so-so career so far but he's also only 3, so I'm hoping his lines indicate "better with age." He's half to two champions, and 3/4 to another.

How did everyone else do?

Congrats on your bargains, i've also been surprised at the low prices so far although I guess if there's a limit on the number you can buy people have to be more selective.

I wasn't going to buy anything, since I already have WAY too many horses.

However, I couldn't quite resist Ch. Blue Nile, a 4yo mare by GCh. Worth My While out of Ch. Blue Light. I don't have any mares from that mare line, and Worth My While retired far too soon, so we're looking forward to seeing what this girl's babies do on the track. She'll get until at least next spring to continue proving herself on the track (already a MSW).

I'm surprised too, until now I bought 3 horses for super cheap prices.

Belleau Wood - a 3yo mare bought from Coleman Branch, bred by Windward Farms. She's a pretty large chestnut with a promising racing career and great pedigree (which includes NCh. Killing Time, Reine-de-Course American Chance, gold ranked broodmare Black Swan, Chef-de-Race Black Knight and WCh. Strike It Rich by Strike The Gold / Alydar).
Pacific Fighter - a 2yo colt bred and owned by Final Furlong, looks good and runs pretty well. By Giant's Causeway, out of Party Prospect, both bronze ranked.
Pony Girl - cute 2yo filly also FF bred, by ICh. Alley Cat and out of Ch. Shadow Steele. Another flea-bitten grey in our herd. And fourth filly by Alley Cat.

Total spent - $3000.

Got the yearling we wanted! Bandwagon is a big colt by WCH. King David (B) out of CH. Black Majesty (by silver-ranked The Black). We have little to no The Black in our herd, so we had to try and take him home.

Now, no more buying until the foal auction.

Heh. I forgot about the auction.  So, came late to the party.  We'll see how things shape up. =)

Bid on three,
Hawaiian Ice (Bold Ruler x Casino Maid) I cannot believe I got this 3YO filly at all, much less for $1,000. She's from Bold Ruler's last crop, (making her Sire sibling to Secretariat, Long Live The King and King David) I hope she runs well.

Holiday Joy(Northern Dancer x Titian). Another one from the last crop of a RL stallion, another $1,000 steal.

Still waiting for a colt to finish

I bid on seven total but ended up with four.

Ghost Hour (Lasting Spirit x After Hours) is a 2YO that shows a little bit of promise. I will be interested in how he makes out.
Jaded Hunter (Gallant Fox x Golden Flames) is a 3YO. He is a half-sibling to some SW and MSW horses so I am curious on how he does.
Last Run (Lasting Spirit x Vegas Runner) is another 2YO. She has only raced once and placed so I am hoping that she keeps improving.
Right Reward (King David x Real Princess) is my last 2YO colt. He is a half-sib to a SP horse. I really like King David so I am keeping my fingers crossed about this horse.

Well, scrap that. Blue Nile got consigned to the auction thanks to a typo, so that's the end of bidding for me. Ah well, always the select auction to look forward to.

Got the colt and he's a beauty. Given his dam I'm surprised he went so easy

Mission Possible (Northern Dancer x Townsend Mischief). He's grandfoal to Townsend Holly, apparently one of the most desirable damlines in the game so I'm super excited to get him. He'll be tested and if he's good I'll try for studship

Woah.  That's the first time I've never had to place a second bid in an auction.  Walked away with 4 created broodies for $1,000 a piece. Here's hoping that at least one of them has good breeding stats.

Also picked up a 3yo SC mare out of American Chance. I already own her 1/2 sister, MSW Continental, so we'll see how she runs. =)

Ok done got all 5 for $1k each, 3 weanlings, 1 yearling ( renamed her) & 1 racer, here they are

Bark at the Moon - 2015 ,Filly ,Dark grey,with a LF Coronet,Height:11.3h
By-Ch. Moonopoly (B) (NCh. Moonover Boy (S) x GCh. Dream Skipper (G))
Out of-Albatross (Created x Created)
http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=19567
With this sireline I'm surprised someone else didn't grab her up
this is only her dams second foal so it will be a surprise on the track.

Black Panther- a 2015,black,colt,with A Stripe, RH Ermine, LH Sock,standing 12h
By-ICh. Alley Cat (B)   (Alydar (S) x Ch. Highland Dreamer (G))
Out of-Pretty in Blue   (Created x Created)
http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=17644
Again with this sireline I'm surprised he was just sitting there
This is his dams first foal and she was lightly raced so surprises await

Unbreak My Heart- a 2015 ,grey,filly,with a Stripe, RH Ermine, LH Ermine,standing 10.1h
By-ICh. Stressed (B) (Secretariat (S) x Lady O'War (S))
Out of -Ch. Gefallener Engel (NCh. Lucky Cigar (S) x Wild Highland (S))
http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=18823
her sireline speaks for itself with secretariat/Bold ruler/man o' war
Her dams side Has cigar and rogue She was an MSW this is her 3rd foal with none racing yet
this baby just sitting there with all these big names/ pedigree shocked me most of all , we hope she races well with a definate eye to the broodmare barn!

This next one I renamed after a movie character....
Holly Golightly- a 2014,dark bay, filly ,with a RH Ermine,standing 13.1H
By-Ch. Mr. Townsend (S) (Mr. Prospector (S) x Townsend Holly (G))
Out of-Maybe In May   (Created x Created)
http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=17163
Her sireline has plenty of fame in it to make me snap her up!
Her dam Was a multi winner this is her 3rd foal, her first already racing and winning.

And last a filly on the track

High Wire Dancing-a 2012 ,Bay,filly,with a Star, snip, RH Ermine,stands 15h
By- Rahy (S) (Created x Created)
Out of- Revelation (B) (Sunday Silence (S) x Great Things (G))
http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=13277
well with this sire I had to buy her
Her dam line with Sunday silence speaks for itself
So far she has been lightly raced and will be interesting figuring her out.

All in all, with all the gold rated , some of the most coveted bloodlines I am supremely happy with my $5k purchases! Now time to thin out the herd, have 8 up for sale now, will have to weed out more as expecting 8 more foals still! Some nice lines on my list all broodmares are bred.  :)

Ok, two more joined the herd, also $1000 each.

Golden Moon - a beautiful light bay 4yo mare by NCh. Moonover Boy. Her first race for us will be this Saturday. She didn't run much in her lifetime but she was quite successful.
Bartimaeus - lovely 4yo stallion by NCh. Seattle Sorcerer, out of bronze ranked The Princess, daughter of Cigar. He raced only 7 times.
