I was wondering... do you work your horses before the race, if the horse doesn't return to the farm between the workout and the race? I know that some of you have horses spend quite a long time away from farm, so I guess that they must have some workouts between races, not to loose their fitness?

I usually ship my horses to the farm for 10 days, and if they were not training for a longer while, I do a workout if they will have 4-5 days till the race to regain energy.

i work out my horses 2-3 days a week.  Horses who are entered to race at the next meet are breezed 2 days prior, so long as they are rated A A.  Then I don't run them again until they recover from their race.  Financially it doesn't make sense to ship horses back to the farm after every race unless you live next door to one of the active tracks (like the way Lochiedo is right next to Woodbine, it only costs $100 to ship).
I always give my horses Sunday off.  So the horses racing Wednesday just had their final breezes and won't work again until they recover from the race.  Horses racing next Saturday will breeze on Wednesday.

I usually work my horses three days a week to get their fitness up. I only gallop them once a week and very rarely breeze them. Once their fitness is up to A then I generally don't do anything with them - if there's suitable races for them I find that keeps them fit enough. If they don't race for a while or have had a long break then they start workouts again. If they've run out of rest days at a boarding farm then I try not to work them as it's harder to regain energy.

Thanks! Maybe mine work more in general, but I really can't wait to get that valuable jockey feedback once he/she knows them well...  ::) so often they race just once a month but they spend quite a lot of that time on the track, training.

Also, when I bought Hussler as an unraced 4yo, I thought that the jockey "learns" him faster than it usually happens with my 2yo's. I wonder if this could be a rule, or it's just this horse?
