Please, please, please consider buying these mares. My racers are being horrible again and I have no other way to raise funds to nominate Karat's foals for the BC.

How'd You Do? / Re: The Year that was - How'd you do?

I leased or sold most of my horses. Turns out I'm much happier watching my horses do well for stables that actually know what they're doing.

Races:   77
Wins:   13 (17%)
Places:   6 (8%)
Shows:   6 (8%)
Fourths:   7 (9%)
Earnings:   $415,400

How miserable. Spent more money shipping these sorry horses home than they won today.

Fourths:
Electric Avenue (6yo, Devil His Due) in an Allowance

Fifths:
Vox Populi (2yo, Ace of Hearts) in a NW3 Allowance

Also Rans:
Ch. Diamond In The Sky (4yo, Eighteen Karat) 6th in the Garland of Roses Stakes (Ungr.)

Wins:
RC Bee lease Ch. Crown of Oak (3yo, Changeling) in the Brisbane Cup (Gr. 1). Has now won 3 of 4 starts this year, all 3 at stakes level and this is her second G1.

:O!!!!! Look at my girl go!

General/Questions / Re: 2yo's for 2023
« on: December 09, 2018, 05:10:33 am »
Can't remember if I ever posted in the previous year's thread but from the looks of it, my 2YOs have so far been floundering about, whether in my barn or someone else's. Beyond The Horizon has been the most consistent of the lot. 6 starts and 4 wins. Kudos to AllegroThoroughbreds.

I only have 16 2YOs in my 2023 crop, which I actually like. Too sentimental to get rid of most of my older horses so they're being leased and managed by other people while I try to do better in this game  ::)

HORUS (American Pharoah x Diamond Prospector, by Mr. Prospector) is my most anticipated one of the bunch. Half-brother to a stakes winner and a stakes-placed and I'm really eager to see how well the FF and real life Pharoahs do. Plus he's black. I love black horses.

THE HINTERLANDS (Eighteen Karat x Scotland's Glory, by Highland Laird) has a very nice pedigree and a really lousy owner-breeder/trainer. His older full brother Heart of Glory has done okay so far. Maybe he'll do one better.

KULESHOV EFFECT (Eighteen Karat x Fade to Black, by The Black) is a half-sis to some blacktype runners.

SHIPS IN THE NIGHT (Naval Commander x Farewell to Arms, by Candidate) is a half-sister to USS Vengeance who is actually doing really well in stakes competitions which is wild because I don't breed consistently quality horses. So based on that, I have some hopes for this filly.

16 soon-to-be-2YOs means I have hopes for all of them but the above are the ones with the more promising pedigrees. I think. Dunno, I have a pretty bad track record with that.....
