Love the name :D

Black Storm woke up to a pleasant surprise this morning! Noplaceforamaiden foaled a few days early to deliver a gorgeous little filly who is almost the spitting image of her mom. By Sleipnir, we've decided to name her Glenr after one of the mythical horses in Norse mythology (where Sleipnir is found).

Overall: 1 colt | 1 filly | 25 to go

I saw her and HAD to get a hold of a baby. It's hard hunting for certain lines on a budget. Hoping a Man O' War x Bold Ruler cross will produce something super nice :D

I kind of went crazy with the mares. Saw them and had to have at least two...which turned into four, haha. *has a breeding addiction*

Oh, and I booked While I'm Lucky for March 21st with High Chances, which I think is March 3B if you want to add that to the main post :)

I obviously don't look hard enough. I'll just join Team Zombie Pony for now. Bring on the Gallorette's!

I lol'd at the gender-bending and zombie babies :D

Some others:
Rock of Gibraltar (Danehill x Offshore Boom, by Be My Guest). He's 3x3 Northern Dancer, but hopefully that's far enough back to not really bother anyone, and he has a lot of nice runners right now including G1 winners Diamondrella and Eagle Mountain.

Tiger Hill (Danehill x The Filly, by Appiani II). Damline completely devoid of any FF horses, and Northern Dancer doesn't appear until the 3rd Gen. Has sired G1 winners Konigstiger and Iota.

Lonhro (Octagonal x Shadea, by Straight Strike). Only FF horse in he pedigree would be Mr. Prospector in the 3rd on the dam's side.

O'Reilly (Last Tycoon x Courtza, by Pompeii Court). I think he's sort of the Smart Strike of Australia/NZ? Please correct me if I'm wrong. My only concern with choosing him is that he's already 18.

Pins (Snippets x No Finer, by Kaoru Star). Standing in NZ. Only FF horse is that pesky Northern Dancer, but waaay back in the 4th generation, and only once. He's 5x5 Hyperion and x5,5 Nearco (so twice on dam's side), and has sired G1 winners El Segundo, Katie Lee, Legs, Econsul, and Porotene Gem.

I figured. Curlin was just a sentimental favorite throw-in  :P

I'd be up for any of the following:

Curlin, Tapit, More Than Ready, Indian Charlie, Candy Ride, Birdstone, Medaglia d'Oro.

There were a few others but I'm also thinking new lines. I don't think we need more A.P. Indy?

Dark Continent with Fleet Fair for March 2B.
Long Live the King with Obviously Tardy for March 3B.

Wins 9 x $250 = $2250
Places 7 x $100 = $700
Shows 6 x $50 = $300
Quinella 2 x $500 = $1000
Trifecta 1 x $1000 = $1000

TOTAL = $5250

How'd You Do? / Re: 1/1

We sent out nearly half our racing team and hit BIG! From 10 runners, seven finished in the top three...including a stakes race!

Word Association finished 3rd in her 3yo debut.  We were excited to get her into a race longer than 6F, and 8F against 3yo+ fillies proved to be a good gamble.

Abdiction scored in a 7F NW2 SC. We had just purchased him on the 21st from Renegade Racing and he just made back his sales price!

Polaris continues to be a puzzle. He was dead last throughout the race, then briefly took the lead, before stopping and finished last of 8. We're thinking a long distance maiden or NW1 for him next time out.

Our old, gutsy gelding I'm a Spook flashed his old form by winning an 11F SC Allowance for 3yo+. His stablemates Roi d'Argent finished 2nd, and Orkenstorm was 5th of 14. Maybe Memories, a lease of ours who will be heading back to his home next week, finished 10th.

Another recent purchase, Sailor Hat, finished 3rd in a 6F turf Allowance against 9 others. Still a long way to make back his purchase price, but I can't be disappointed :D

Now here's a girl we're getting super excited about. Since actually taking the time to work our horses, Luv a Drama finished 3rd twice in a row as her last starts at 2. As a 3yo, we decided to throw some distance at her and she came back a winner by 4-1/2 lengths! She's from Alydar's last crop and a half-sister to SP Lady Firelight.

And what better way to wrap up the day than with a stakes place?! We always thought Tempting Magic could be stakes-quality, and he finally proved us right by finishing 2nd in the 5.5F El Conejo Handicap (UNG). Next time we'll probably try him at a longer distance - he seemed to get better as the race went on.

I'd like some suggestions for where to send my mare, While I'm Lucky. I'd love to cross her with a Rogue stud, unfortunately the vast majority of them are outside of my budget and the only 2 so far that I've uncovered that are within my budget are Clockstopper (unproven) and High on Love (Bronze). Any others out there I might have missed? Or are there some lines that cross well with Lucky Cigar, looking at her dam's side?

And nothing against Clockstopper and High on Love, I just want to see if there are more choices out there (plus who knows what still-to-be-retired horses are coming in this year).
