How'd You Do? / Re: 2014
« on: January 02, 2011, 09:37:27 am »
Races:    241
Wins:    29 (12%)
Places:    36 (15%)
Shows:    40 (17%)
Fourths:    32 (13%)
Earnings:  $1,388,750

2014 was our first full year of playing (only took in 12 races in 2013) so I'm quite pleased with how the team did. I'm still learing about how to figure things out so hopefully onwards and upwards in 2015. Manged to get three horses to champion status including my starter horse  :D so really pleased with that. Also had our first stakes winner on our home track in a race that I've watched irl for years and it's a grade one to boot so definitely one of our highlights.

Please can I get Almost Precious' March 3a spot please? Will be for a mare who's lease doesn't start until Feb so if you could reserve the spot for the stable (Generous Bloodstock) I'll set her up as soon as she's arrived.

Thank you

On paper not a good day really but having had a look through the running lines etc the ponies didn't do too badly. Sent out four and claimed one (so much for not hoarding this year   ;) )

Clannish made her 2nd start for us having joined us at the end of last year and took up a big step up in trip in a 14f NW2 on dirt. She ran pretty well, pushing up to 2nd for quite a way before tiring towards then end. Probably a shorter distance for her next time.

Touch Of Midas also manged to get up to 2nd place in his claimer before being swamped on the line and finishing 5th. We might put him away for a while now and give him a break.

Baringa finished a close up 5th in the Appleton Handicap. He also hit 2nd just before the end so I think the ponies have some kind of plan going on between them  :P Really pleased with him though as he's been off since July as I didn't want to overdo things with him and two of his half brothers were still winning at the backend of last year (4yo and 5yo) so hopefully if I look after him he could have a reasonably long career ahead of him.

Finally, claimed Juxtaposed an unplaced 4yo who finished 4th in her claimer. So far she's managed 5 4th places out of 7 starts but I'm not too worried as she's a half-sister by Cigar to Sneak Peek, Doublecross, Catchmeifyoucan and Rodeo so should make a lovely broodmare. Also her siblings generally seem to have improved with age so fingers crossed she'll do the same  ;)

Sorry for your loss. Hope it goes better for her next time.

Comments and Suggestions / Re: 600+ FF horses for sale to new members?

I think Shanthi sets up a sale of older geldings every year to new players. Gives newer players a chance to get some potential money earners at a reasonable price :)

I know that feeling Cat. Sold Ice Tiger earlier in the year when she just couldn't seem to break her maiden and she promptly won or finished 2nd in her next five or so starts including a BC win  :(

Oh, and I'm with Cat - need to stop hoarding. I have gotten better about gelding colts pretty quickly (and then selling them on, usually to great success! Not that I need a larger racing string than I have...). Need to not hoard the pretty mares and their pretty imaginary babies, though.

Actually, I should make this one of my aims too - I just can't resist a pretty face  :P

Weekly Picks/Handicapping / Re: December Handicapping Totals
« on: January 01, 2011, 11:10:16 am »
Generous Bloodstock

Days Handicapped = 5

Win 37 x $250 = $9250
Place 34 x $100 = $3400
Show 24 x $50 = $1200
Quinella 6 x $500 = $3000
Trifecta 11 x $1000 = $11000

Total = $27850

Well, a bit like everyone else - hopefully a bit more consistent performances from the ponies  ;) although a couple of them really started to fire after the code change so here's hoping they continue that fine form. Spend money more wisely but the likelyhood of that happening is probably quite slim  ::) And all the ponies to stay happy and healthy and that the new foals all arrive safely.  Oh and maybe if just one of the colts could show some tendency towards making a potential stallion that'd be fab.

Best of luck to everyone in 2015  :)

General/Questions / Re: What Happened to today's races? 12/29?

Think it needs reporting as a bug as the three horses I had entered for the first are no longer entered either. Am using my mobile and can't load the bugs page but if noone else has done it by the time I get home I'll file a report through the proper channel :)

I didn't take part in 2013 so I'd be happy to help pick out some horses if you'd like.

Thank you. Sorry you've had to take time in Christmas week to do it, you're far good to us!

Only two out today, both well named considering current weather conditions here  ;)

Icy Dice finished last in the Gallant Fox but did earn a very good speed figure. It's his first run back from a break so I'm not too dissapointed. He'll drop back to allowance company now and hopefully that'll suit him a bit better.

Just Like Ice put in a better performance finishing 2nd of 7 in an older filly/mare allowance over 9f on the turf. She's still showing plenty of enthusiasm even though she's rising five now so she's certainly shown it's worth campaining her again next season. She's been shipped home for a short break with a view to coming back out end of Jan/early Feb.
