Silver Pond Farm's 2014 Foaling Season

Yay! First foal of the season:

Viva La Vida
Gch. Harvard Bound x Viva V
9.1hh Strawberry roan

She's not a homebred, since we purchased her momma in foal with her. Still, we couldn't be happier with her! It was a nice, smooth delivery; her momma's an old pro. She sure is a pretty girl; I think she'll catch the eye of a few colts when she hits the racetrack. heh  ;) Had to name her after the Coldplay song that I love. Viva V will be visiting Candidate this year.

2nd baby-and she's a week early! Introducing:

One Hot Mess
Ch. Rumor Has It x Chillipepper
9.2hh black

She's another in-utero purchase; her mother has 3 other foals (all fillies!) but none of them have raced yet. Still, we can't wait to see how she turns out. Chillipepper will be visiting V for Victory in May.

Lovely surprise on this Derby morning!

Fractured
Ich. Stressed x Tipoftheiceburg
8.1hh Grey

This little darling is a couple days early. She's our second homebred EVER, so I'm super excited about her. Her mom only has two other foals, the oldest being a two year old who hasn't raced yet, so she's pretty much an unknown. Her daddy had a pretty impressive career, so I'm hoping he sends some of his genes her way. Still not a hundred percent sure on the name, but I'll let it sit on her for a couple of days and see. Tipoftheiceburg will be visiting Long Live The King next month.

3 fillies; 2 more babies due this year!

Finally got a colt! Introducing:

Ganache
Ich. What's Your Point x Truffle N Paradise
8.2hh Brown

I can definately breathe a sigh of relief now that he's arrived safe and sound, since his mother was a maiden. He was only 3 days late, and is our third homebred, second of the season. His sire is still a bit of a question mark, with only two crops to date, but I'm intrigued about this boy's prospects all the same. Not sure about the name, though it has grown on me a little...suggestions/comments are welcome.  :) Truffle N Paradise will be visiting Dark Continent next.

Oh that's adorable. My only suggestion would be 'Worth the Truffle.'  ;)

Last foal of the season arrived safe and sound sometime yesterday.

Sam Spade
Gch. Secretsarebound x Notta Mystery
9.2 hh Brown

This boy surprised me, arriving about a week early. His sire is a bit of a mystery still with only two racers to date, but one of them looks quite promising. His momma is created, but her 3 year old filly has been doing quite well on the track this year. Our fourth homebred ever and a half brother to our first, this guy should have some size to him, as mom is 17.1 hh and dad 16.2hh. Named him after the famous fictional detective in The Maltese Falcon. Notta Mystery will be visiting Doodles this year.

3 fillies/2 colts for the year; all healthy and strong. Whew!  :D

Sam Spade, if I remember correctly, was also a minor character in L.A. Confidential.  =)
